Didn't do the Chatel River gap, as I didn't even go to Chatel this year.

Best riding spot this year, hands down goes to Super Morzine... INSANE, INSANE INSANE.
I was giggling like a school girl all the way down Porridge. 10 Rider train going down it, all you see is a dust cloud and smell everyone's brakes on fire! Hattock (black) is by far my favourite track now and wish I could hammer it day in day out.

BOO :p

Yeah Super Morzine and Morgins are were it was at this year. Only reason I really went to Chatel was to do the river gap and road gap tbh, but if you were too scared and chose to stay away I understand....:p

Couldnt think what it was called when I posted my videos, but yeah Hattock, the black run on Super Morzine is awesome, probably my favourite trail too :D

As for thr Superstar pads, are you calipers aligned properly? I was running SS kevlar pads in my Codes. No problems with them at all, lots of power and no noise. Front pads still have plenty of life after a week and rear just made it through the week

Our chalet host snapped the lowers on his boxxers clean in half coming up short on one of the gap jumps on it.

Superstar pads are w4nk. Calipers etc are all 100% aligned. Ive had some good SS pads, but the majority of them seems to be poo. My organic generic Formula pads lasted all week, the only reason I had to change to the SS ones was because I spilled oil on them :p

Interesting vid Cow from the pads side of things!
I've got a front and rear pairs of Organic Superstar pads for my RX's that I was hoping would dramatically give my brakes a new lease of life as I've not been happy with them since I had them.... hmmm....
Do they just squeal or is there no power in them too?

It's not only the sound, but the complete lack in power and modulation as soon as I swapped to them. I'll stick with the standard formula pads from now on.

Next month im planning on going to wales with a few mates .. it'll be our first time there....My main playground is cannock which i do pretty much weekly,

We plan on going in the week over 2-3 days.....As anyone got any experience with welsh trails?

Is it best to go to the trail centres or natural stuff??

Can anyone recommend a few trails to do over a 2 - 3 day period which are close together and have a varied type of riding over the few days?

Also has anyone suggestions on where to stay or is it best to camp?

I know there was a post about this recently but i cant seem to find it now.

Thanks

Bike is fantastic but the pedals are plastic and feel terrible ... Can someone suggest a cheap replacment set please :) On the website it says it should have alloy pedals so im a little confused

Cheers

Nice bike :)

The pedals included are meant to be replaced.
I've no idea on flat pedals but i'm sure someone will provide a link to a decent set.

Remove those reflectors from the wheels ;)

Base yourself in Betws y coed. There is a bike shop there for supplies. The Swallow falls hotel is fine enough for bikers. You can either camp or stay in the Hostel. It has a bar on site too. :D

Nearby you have a choice of the trails in Coed Y Brenin Trail centre ( the shop prices are high so be warned). The trails are IMO the best in Wales, but everyone likes different things, so you may prefer the Marin Trail which is close by or even Penmachno.

The trails are all very different so it will give you an idea of the type of riding you prefer. Penmachno being the closest to a natural trail.

:)

These are a good set. I know weescott has had bad experiences with Superstar pedals but, to be fair, they were not the nano's he had a bad experience with and everyone I know raves about the nanos - http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=42&products_id=194

I would recommend the Gunmetal colour (blue/grey) as I have a set of them and they go quite good with a white/black bike :)

Thanks Weescott.

Daft question, is there anywhere to keep your bikes overnight?....Its just theres 3 of us going in one car.

Doubt we'll get 3 bikes in the car overnight as i dont fancy leaving them on the rack.

From memory yes there is secure bike storage on site. We had a van when we went so didn't use the bike storage.

Yeah im removing them next time i get it out of the garage ... i didnt see them tbh, the bell and reflectors have allready gone:D

looking for some tyre reccomendations, currently using the WTB Wolverine 26" x 2.2" and WTB Wolverine 26" x 2.1" that came with the bike whyte t120, and not really happy with there proneness to punctures (3 in 3 weeks) on generally light xc use...

Maybe i've just been unlucky so far but i dont have much confidence in them right now ;( when ive ridden the same routes on a borrowed bike for 4 months and had 0 issues.

Any advice is welcome

The question might not be about the tyres but the tubes you run, PSI, your weight, and riding style.

Tyre recommendation is dependant on these factors (including bike which you stated) plus where you ride.

I have new innertubes on the way already, as i dont have much faith in them either ;) for the time being its literally just local trails, which are suitable for novices :o the goal will be cannock once my fitness has improved just a little bit more, as far as weight goes im around 90kg and the tyres have been inflated to around 35psi, not sure i have a riding style yet, unless lots of sweating counts ;)

PSI is fine. My guess is you have just been unlucky. If you don't do so already - check the inside of the tyre and inside the rim for debris that might be causing the puncture. :)
