Ok my first attempt at bleeding brakes failed :P I only had fishtank tubbing....they feel SPONGY AS HELL!

need to take more time I think

any tube should work as long as it makes a decent seal and doesnt leak everywhere. I think i used blood transfusion tube last time i did it :p (long story).

What brakes are they? (as rob said, hayes are horrid things to bleed)
And how are you going about it?

I heard Wharncliff has some hairy stuff on it and would want to give it a go sometime, not overly keen on a long winter drive back hom after a day of pushing up.

Hmm today i decided to stick my old Panaracer FireXC's back on the bike, dont know why but holy cow my bike is a lot easier to move along now, freewheeling seems to go on forever, now i think new tires, so im on the look out for some Nobby Nics on the cheap, they are stupidly expensive at the minute :(

Only thing my bike looks seriously odd now, gone from 2.35 Bonty XR4s TLR to the 2.1 FireXC's, wheels just look odd, upside more clearance now.

Went over to have a look a Rivington today and will certainly go back. Mid week means cheeky trails are ok in my book so I headed up and over Winter Hill as I'd seen the descent down to Belmont on youtube and it looked good fun. It was though there are sections that are fairly cut up and muddy, it looks to get a lot of mtb traffic considering it's a footpath. From there I rode round to Rivington Pike and had a play on some of the descents off the top. Though I didn't find the steps pictured above, probably as I couldn't be bothered to head far down the hill, the staircase at the top was good fun.

I went over to Llandegla on Sunday to check out the new trails. Was going to go down to Betwsy and do the Marin but I overslept so changed my plans.

I think it was probably the busiest I've ever seen Llandegla, the new trails must be making them popular. The main car park and the overflow one were completely rammed and I had trouble getting a space!

I'm not sure if I was very impressed with the new trails, there seemed to be a lot more climbing involved for a few smooth downhill parts, nothing technical at all. There were a lot of people on the trails who seemed out of their depth though, I know I'm not the fittest or fastest person out there but there were lots and lots of people pushing their bikes round and generally getting in the way, especially when they were pushing it along the north shore parts so I couldn't get by! The trails themselves were very muddy and sloppy but the new north shore parts were quite fun, most of it just seemed a bit too clinical and smooth though! I'll probably have to go back when its less busy and give them a more fair assessment.

Also saw another ambulance there rescuing someone, seems to be a regular thing now whenever I go!

Oh and heres the 3 pics I took to prove I was there! :D

Unfortunately I work during the week so can never get away otherwise I would! :(

I normally go on Sunday afternoon and its not usually too busy then, last Sunday was just stupid though!

You must get holidays at work, i just book a day off and go down, hated the place at weekend, constantly getting stuck behind people, i like to go at my own pace.

I shortened the braided hoses and bled my tech m4s last night.

The bleeding procedure was extremely easy and strangely satisfying! It's amazing how dirty the liquid gets when you assume it's a completely sealed system.

Shortening the hoses was also extremely easy apart from fitting the olive (bought new ones) the slightest bit of fraying and it doesn't wanna know.

I have 160mm Shimano M445's on my bike at the moment. They seem to fade quite fast on downhill sections so what would you guys recommend?

I'm wondering whether a bigger front disc and an adaptor might help or should I just upgrade the brakes to something a bit better as they're basically shimanos entry level hydraulics.

also how do you tell the difference between IS and Post mounts?
