sounds like you are really unlucky when out riding, i haven't had an off for almost a year although have a had a few near misses with dogs, i have know idea why people let their dogs free on trails it's just a matter of time before i actually hit one.

The spoke thing is definitely unlucky. But the whole coming off thing I wouldn't put down to bad luck, just pure lack of ability.

But I keep on going, I don't let no falls or horse leavings put me off! :D

any tire recommendations for XC, currently have Continental Mountain King 2.2" the treads getting a little worn and they were a little slippy in the mud.

Nobby Nics are a fave on here, and will be my next tyres, currently running a maxxis high roller front and crossmark rear.

Only girls ride Nobby Nics.

Are they black chilli compound and old style or new style MK's? The new tread pattern is supposed to have more grip but is a little slower rolling.

they're two years old so old ones i guess.
I'm not bothered about speed i just want grip until i'm a decent enough rider to want speed :)

great helmet and they look awesome in blue!

Yup. I am happy with my helmet, but am trying to tell myself after coming off today and putting a dent in it that I need another helmet in case "I ruin this one". Poor excuse, but it seems to be making me press the order button :P

Had a bit of a mixed day today. Been out about 5 hours, but spent half the time digging myself out of stupid deep sludge/clay/water :p

Sounds like my ride yesterday! Was out about an hour longer than I should have been as I kept getting bogged down in mud!

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=58781 - Bargain? I have a 661 recon Helmet, but would like one of these, and £55 seems a very good price for one. (I can't have a smaller one, I've got a cabbage of a head!)

Do it, I had a 661 Recon but it gave me a massive mushroom head, swapped it for an Urge and its much better! :)

Oh today was awful in the wet parts. It wasn't just sludgy, I put me foot down on one part trying not to come off the bike, and the "sludge" swallowed my foot whole. It was horrible. Had some fun times though trying to get through it. :p Everything was just so damn slippery. I don't really have a problem with how the 661 fits, but I've wanted one of these Urge for a while now, so to see it on offer is.. Very tempting! :D

It is entirely up to you as I do not know how you fell or what sort of impact the helmet took, but if I dented mine I would replace it.

It wasn't a bad fall, apart from the horse dung I landed in (Horse dung tastes like crap, btw :() It is just a very small dent, can't tell to look at it, only by me looking at the point of impact, while checking everything was ok. Gonna buy the Urge anyway I think. :)

Where were you riding? When I lived in Sheffield I used to really like riding out through Endcliffe park up to Forge dam then out into the peaks.

In Greno woods. Just had a ride down looking for anything that looked like a trail, since I can't remember that place. Bleeding maze.

Endcliffe park? I'll have to take a look next sunday, if Je James have sorted my wheel out by then. :p

Greno is near to Wharncliffe which is worth a visit if you haven't been, some very good trails there.

Sorry, I say Greno woods but mean both :p

There are some good trails there, but they ain't so good while they are so wet. Some of it was impossible, and some of it was just too hard for me (I saw someone go over some of the sludgy stuff, so it can be done.. I'm just rubbish!) :o

Edit: They are different woods, I think? But it all seem's connected to each other. I think you could switch over between each woods, and not realise you are doing.
