I'll take a look at that one, thanks. Seem's it can be had for £45 from Stif.co.uk as well at the moment, which makes it very tempting!

I do really like that, and would like to get one - But I can't warrant paying that much when I want to buy some 5.10's and some new pedals.

If I don't order a Fox Flux, I'll just end up going for another 661 Recon I think, since I do like the fit of that helmet, I'd just rather not have 2 of the same. :p

I got a fox flux helmet last weekend, i got the guy in the shop to fit mine for me as i found it a bit fiddly to get right by myself unless you have someone to help adjust it. Only issue i had which probs just me being unhealthy was the amount of sweating!

Where does your friend live so I can go round his house and hit him with his frame?

Getting that frame for your needs is a seriously bad idea.

PLease heed our advice.
Take it back to your mate and tell him thanks, but it's not suited to your needs.

I'm struggling for analogies, it's such a bad idea. It's a heavy for a DH bike, nevermind something you want to use for a bit of riding around. The geometry is awful fr what you need and then sticking short travel forks ( if they will actually fit) on there will quite literally make baby Jesus cry tears of blood.

The frame doesn't feel terribly heavy although i havent riden many full suspension bikes. All my Shimano XT stuff turned up today, just need to give it a clean and then its ready to be fitted.
I don't have the frame yet and havent paid for it so dropped him a text saying i'll leave it for now.

Just need to decide what to do now, try sticking with my hardtail although it was a little painfull offroad, save some money and get a pricier frame later on,
Get one of the following few frames:
http://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/1043344/
http://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/968845/ <-- large so might be a little big for me (i'm 5'10)
http://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/1046557/ <-- think this has the better shock but thought it'd have more than 100mm travel?

Or this and save some money towards replacing my suntour forks:
http://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/1046007/ <-- again large so might be a little big (anyt idea on the travel?)

The commencal is a good buy, though I'd check for cracks!
The anthem is also a good shout imo.

Personally, I'd search for a specialized Pitch frame.

Would anyone be up for a downhill meet sometime this summer? :)
I'll be at Mountain Creek Bike Park most weekends from May 5th :p

edit: andi, it always confuses me when I scan threads as your sig image is so close to mine. Where was yours taken? Mine was at the top of Monarch Crest in the Rockies.

had a look for specialized pitch but only one in my price bracket it in small.

Had a read on the anthem, gets good reviews. will the 4inch travel on the rear be enough for XC? Without sounding really dumb would i notice it a lot over my hardtail?

Hey guys, anyone using Strava.com yet?

Use a phone or gps to log your rides and upload them to the site. It then works out how fast you did each section and adds you to the leaderboard.

I'v been using it for a couple of weeks for road riding, but i'v just realised that there are a few records on some of the trail centres as well (so far i'v found: fort william dh, golspie climb, and loads of tracks as inners/glentress). Most of the sections are split into separate leaderboards for the uphill and downhill parts of the trail, so even those who dont like the hills can play as well :D

What is your current bike? A descent hardtail is always going to be better than a cheap full suss. It might make more sense to ride your current bike depending on what it is and saving some more for a better entry into the bouncy league?

Currently have a 2010 Marin bobcat trail, most of the frames i'm looking at came of fairly pricey bikes when new. I have brought a full new groupset which is fairly good to mix with it.

My iphone 3 struggles for gps signals when im away from main areas or will sometimes cut out part way through. Sounds good though if you had a proper GPS unit.

i posted about it ages ago in this thread i'm sure.

Here's my athlete details - add me if you want.

not been out in weeks mind you!!

Some low light winter digging footage testing out a table. We wanted to make sure it's rideable at any experience level and make sure the lip isn;t too kicky for inexperienced - or experienced riders for that matter.

Our test pilot has been building the track, still wearing his High viz jacket and steel cap shoes on.

Sadly I think I agree lol!

Was just suggesting options.
Heh, I'm grateful you mentioned it anyway - The more helmets for me to look at, the better. :)

I think this is what I'm going to order, but a lot of the stuff I've read state that it's a pretty heavy and warm helmet, so sweating is very much expected. My choice seem's to be down to this or another 661 Recon.

That Slayer is about 3 generations old and way overpriced. From what I remember they are on the large size and heavy. It's an FSR design (RM got round the patent). So it's decent enough.

The GT is...meh.
