Pretty much finished bike now, just need a small enough tie wrap to attach the brake housing to the rear suspension and add in an extra clip.
- really like the suspension easy to use and pro pedal when set to firm is great for the bit of road riding.

Do i need some sort of mud guard for the rear suspension?

Also my front mudguard connects to the front fork by a bit going up into the steerer and then when you screw the allen bolt it expands, on my old frame/forks this worked fine but it doesn't seem to hold great on the new ones, is there any better mudguards for the front that connect a different way?

Yeewww, great weekend's worth of riding, loved every second of it.
Bits were I felt lightning quick and other times I felt stupidly sluggish and slow, but I had a grin from ear to ear regardless.

Really struggled hanging on to the bike bike, I had to use silver heavy duty duct tape to strap the wrist, wrist guard, and still couldn't really hold on. Had an off because I wasn't strong enough to hol on, but all in, such a good weekend and I'm buzzing.

The bike is ninja quiet, though I must admit, i've never come across anything as silent as the new prototype SRAM mech clutch thingy. My mate who works on the Giant factory team (Needles's mechanic this year) brought up his Giant carbon XC whippet bike thingy with a mech that has it on, he had nothing to cover his chainstay at all. Going down the track on it, it was silent. I didn't hear anything, almost to a point where I felt it was nigh on unsettling as I thought I had a flat. He also had silent DT swiss hubs on the bike, so all I could hear was the tyres.

My new bike is almost at that point, though not entirely yet, definitely getting one of those mechs as soon as they hit production.

Morewood shots incoming
(if you're bored of it, I dont care ! )

I need advice. I'm thinking of getting a Blur LT frame, but want to know if its really that much better than the Heckler? I've not ridden a Heckler, only a Blur LT and the geometry was a good fit for me.
Ohhh yes. VPP is so good that it equals an extra 25mm of travel.

In all seriousness. The Blur will climb and descend better. No brake squat either. Absolutely worth the extra cash. Do it!

Selling your house to keep yourself in Bikes? Good man!

beauty of a bike. Far to much bike for me mind you!

Anyway - headset on my bike needs a strip down and grease I think - I presume any decent quality grease on the bearings etc is fine??

Was down at Glentress on Friday really nice day was on the trails for a while, always seem to end up all over the place, no particular trail :S lol. Much better then last time though ended up on pie run trail then cutting down thru the red. Downhill is just awesome in general but uphill really makes me cry ha ha. Spent some time at the freeride park was great.

Think it's time I upgraded the forks on my rockhopper (2011).

I've been told by Specialized that the max travel I can fit, so that warranty is not affected, is 100mm. I'm looking at spending around £200ish can stretch a little higher if theres anything thats worth it.

So what do you guys recommend? Also, coil or air?

Thanks for that they're exactly what i've been looking at. Just wanted to know whether there was anything else worth considering and whether air will be as good as a coil fork.

Decided I want a helmet camera, because they are cool and I just want one.

Looking around, and at youtube videos, it seems they hdhero and hdhero 2 seem to be the best quality and also seem to be what most go for. Looking at the two, it seems the hdhero 2 has a few improvements, quicker light response, 120fps mode and a different lens, not sure if there's anything else I've missed.

The hdhero helmet pack is around £180-200 and the hdhero 2 outdoorpack is £299 . Is it worth the extra?, both are within budget or is there another camera to consider?

Thanks :).

HD hero2 is not worth the upgrade from the HD hero,Wish id never of upgraded to the newer model and saved the £££

If i was you go for the hd hero 960 ....Its cheaper - only downside is it dont do 1080p.

Agreed. Start off with something cheaper and go with the HD Hero 960. My Drift does 1080p but I never use it. 720p is plenty.

Yes it is Hamster, not much I can say about it really.
It does it's job and it does it well, which is a good thing of course.

Can't fault it in any way, but maybe that's because I don't need the super duper versions of the stand, with all sorts of tool holders and so forth. It's sturdy and has taken a bit of a beating while I installed headsets with the bikes hung up. My headset tool ( big rubber malet) puts some pressure on the thing and its sturdy as.

Thanks :) I'm thinking about getting one of these for home and I'm not that fussed about tool holders and magnetic trays. Is the clamp strong enough to hold the bike at any angle without slippage?

I did take a look at the 960, as I doubt I'll be doing 1080p, but it wasn't compatible with the backpac system, which was an option I'd like to keep open (for lcd screen etc) and was not too much of a saving. £170 or so was cheapest I could find it, against the gopro 1080 for £200.

Now you mention drift, I knew I forgot something in my first post. I did get pointed to this in my search http://driftinnovation.com/drift-hd-action-camera/ which can also be had for £200. People with it seem happy enough, but I couldn't find much footage from it, only the previous one, hd170. Although the differences mainly seem to be weight, mini hdmi out, no need to buy second cover to protect rear when using external mic or power pack and easily changeable lens (four screws on front), which I hopefully won't need, but with my luck I'd like to have or have the lens protected like the gopro.

Any thoughts on that option.
