Tell me about headsets. I've built a new steel audax frame (1 1/8" A-head) and trying to decide whether to put a relatively cheap ~£25-30 unit in, a £60 Hope headset or a ~£100 Chris King. Any thoughts?

I like my hope headset got the seperate top and bottom sets they do. Great weather sealing and much better than my previous fsa orbit for keeping dirt out. Typical Hope its easy to replace bearing and easy to fit.

Chris King are supposed to be good as well but have no experience of them or weather there worth nearly double the price.

I'd have liked to have ridden that stuff, if I was ever nearby. Quite like the skinny north shore stuff, that makes you tighten up tighter than a ducks ****!

Hope headsets are distinctly average. They last me about 18months. My Chris King and Acros headsets are as good as new after over 2 years use.

Not at all!
If I don't pay for delivery, I still expect my order to be picked as and when all items are in stock, despite if say 4 people have placed an order after me and paid delivery they should not get priority... if they'd paid a "rapid picking fee" then fair enough.
I DO expect that my order when despatched wont arrive as quick as paid delivery parcels. :cool:

So confused.... I'm sure a few years ago the choice was:

1) Threaded headset 1"

2) Threadless headset, 1" 1/8th

Which make do people like for gear cable? I've been reading around but can't seem to narrow it down from Jagwire, XTR, Gore or Goodridge!

I agree with Supercow, it's just a cable.
I would get new outers as well tho, doesnt cost much but makes the cables last longer.

I got a gear cable free with MBUK years ago, it went rusty which wasn't great for shifting. So I wouldn't go too cheap.

Cheap cables = poor shifting.

These are probably good for the price >>> Avoid Jagwire the plastic cracks.
