mistercrabb don't mess about just get out there. I'm going to be in the process of selling my DH bike now as i just won't use it in the UK and getting a tasty 6" bike. The alps are amazing though, some tracks are a bit rough and raw with braking bumps and damn there are some slow people out there (i'm not majorly fast but never got over taken) but the tracks with uplifts totally make up for it, Les Crossets Red run was probably the best track i rode all week it just flowed berm to berm all the way down. Already planning next year. Flew easyjet as well and had zero problems even with two over weight bikes!
To be fair, most MTBers i know do a lot of training for no-pedalling races. In fact, some of them are so dedicated, that they refuse to pedal at all, prefering instead to get off and push up even the slightest of inclines.
The roadies had no chance up against such rigorous training schedules![]()
