Good run yesterday round the Drumlanrig red route - 1st time.

Enjoyed it - very different to a trail centre in terms of the massive amounts of roots and natural feel to the place. Never saw another sole once I left the car park. A few puddles and a bit of mud, some stream crossings, but very enjoyabl. Was there with the family and in-laws so not bothered about paying the £6 to get it to grounds of Drumlanrig estate.

Good facilities, good bike shop and chat from Rik, bike wash etc - can't knock it for an afternoon's cycling.

Also 11th fastest round the route on my 1st run on Strava- quite happy with that!

I have a 2010 fox f120 rl on my nickel (QR15 with normal 1 1/8th steerer)

I want something less flexy and longer travel

these are my three options!

1) £400 2012 fox float rl 140mm QR15 taper
2) £550 2012 fox float rlc kashima fit 140mm QR15 taper
3) £350 2013 RS revelations RL 150mm QR15 taper

would the taper steerer make much difference? and the stronger arch on the floats over the 'f' fork? is 150mm to much for the nickel? is kashima and fit worth the extra cash?

any other options?

Nice one :)
Come to Aston Hill on Sunday and spectate the race for a bit - guaranteed to be a bit of a laugh and the heckling is always good fun.

I didnt realise there was a race on!

I might actually take you up on that! Although the bike will be staying at home to avoid me wanting to try things and kill myself!

Are you by any chance racing?

Yea don't worry about racing, it's a good day/afternoon out :)

Yea I got roped into racing, so you can join in with the rest of the crown shouting "Pedal you cnt" in sections where it's impossible to put the hammers down. :D

If I can make it, I will shout so many racial slurs at you they will cause you to fall of your bike :D

edit: I wont really that would be too mean!

Why not go 20mm axle?

Got my Santa Cruz Heckler frame today, looks very nice :) Unfortunately the headset bearings are knackered to the extent that when turning the fork it just didnt feel right so i took the bearings out expecting it to be cartidge and it wasnt and a couple of bearings were out of the socket things.
So put my stuff back on my giant and will go to the shop tomorrow to get them to fit a new headset. Any better than others?
Also what should i expect to pay for a shop to fit one? I';ve seen wheelbase do it at £30 is that about right?

Its no harder than the end of the northshore though, either a small jump or its rollable as well. And if you can't jump what's the point in going along a section of jumps.

Nice to see the forestry commission are nice people:

'Thank you for your email. Our terms and conditions do generally state that lost / stolen passes cannot be replaced. However on this occasion I have been able to honour a replacement car sticker for you.'

I think the mrs binned car parking pass when tidying up a wile back.

I believe Sektor's share some parts with revalations, the above will only cost £260.

Although 15mm axle will be better than 9mm.

I think BOS do a 140mm fork too ** yeh they do : http://boutique.bosmtb.com/en/produits/p22-deville-140mm

Revalations get good reviews.

Depends what you want to spend as the ones you have mentioned have £200 differernce.

they look amazing - but they are £760! I was thinking more like £400 :(
anyone know any good deals :p

There should be bargains appearing now what with the 2013 stuff being shown and appearing in the shops. Recently you could get some Revelations new for about £200, I can't remember where though.

I browse singletrackworld a lot, that seems to be a good place to pick up on offers as they tend to get posted a lot.
