Should ya be able to bottom out forks or is it bad for em? Ive read you can blow the seals, is this true? Whats the point in having all the travel and not being able to use it?

You should be able to bottom out your forks.
How easily you like going through your travel, is up to how you prefer to ride/riding style.

Thought so, I had me fox at 120 psi and they only ever used 3/4 travel, downed em to 100 and now they feel so much better and finally bottomed em out once on a drop but then I read about blown seals so it worried me

The only other "danger" is that by running lower pressure your forks might dive in the low speed compression corners/very off-camber turns and doesn't support you while turning .

Easily noticeable if you're feeling like you're being thrown over your front too much, when trying to go through the above mentioned terrain types.

Does your fork have low speed and high speed compression settings?

Some Fox forks can be stiff/harsh due in part to a lack of oil. You take air out to get the forks to botttom out only to find they 'seem flexy'when hitting bends/berms fast. The best solution is to get the forks serviced. Or at least service the seals. Pop the seals out, clean, add chain oil.

Awww yeah :D

My forks get lubed up with fork juice before and after every ride and I have only just upgraded to low friction seals 2 rides ago. Can you pop fox seals up without taking lowers off?

Thats kool then, got a few pillows of float oil doing nowt. Getting the seals off 1st time with the legs off was a right task, ended up using a 17mm open ended spanner to wrentch em out and putting the new ones in was an effort. Whats the blue tape all about on the stantion?

That's great. :D. The blue electrical tape is stop the stanchions getting scratched by a stray screwdriver. Servicing the seals on Fox forks regularly extends service intervals quite a bit. :)

I want a Hybrid bike to get fit on Budget around £350-500 not got a clue ! the last bike i had was 20yrs ago and it was a Peugeot mountain jobby very heavy and slow.

Anyone know what i need to convert my triple xt crankset to single? Just want the middle ring, been using just the middle ring for a couple of weeks and quite happy with it.
My bike doesnt have new mounts for chain guides (ISGC05?) so not sure what chain guide to get as most of them use the new mount.
Also for a bash ring do i just get any that is the size up? so if the chainring is 34t i get 36t bash guard?

I though best check before i take the crhainset apart and realise i'm missing something.

Everything, its my only bike now, its as light as my old hardtail and burly enough to easily manage anything I've ridden so far, only time ill wish for more travel/stiffer fork will probably be at the end of a days riding at Innerleithen/GT when you start getting lazy :p First ride tomorrow..
