19th of December can;t come quick enough!
Surfing morning then shredding tracks like these in the afternoons ... yes please!

Got roots?

I've had my Rockshox forks for a few months now and was wondering how long i need to leave them between servicing? I do about 30-50 miles a month off-road riding and about 50 miles road riding a month. Looked at some guides and there is quite a few steps involved in servicing them think i might get a shop to do it.

Do they feel like they need servicing?
I'd only think that they need a checkup after a year, though a lot of RS forks come a bit fubar out the factory.

Think I seen you there! We were in the VW camper.

Some of the trails were a bit crazy in the snow, well certainly for a beginner!

Nice one mate, I remember seeing you guys there as well!
The trails were pretty sketchy in the snow, but it was still a great day.
Always good to see other bikers out and about. I was surprised to see the place so busy :)

I serviced my 2011 revs myself after about 6 months. Drained, removed lowers, full clean, change seals, soak O rings in float fluid etc etc
I dont think there was enough fluid in them prior to the service (going by the amount RS recommend you use)
I never struggled really, and it was well worth it

what was the cost of the oil, new seals etc? Any links to the kits?

booyaka listen to the guys it's actually pretty easy to service forks if you are a little bit mechanically inclined and don't rush things, bound to be some how to on youtube as well. As for services kits try TF Tuned;

yeah - was just curious as I probably need mine done soon so might as well do them over the winter time/christmas when there is a bit more "off" bike time.

Also "if" i'm stripping my bike down for a new frame that i keep lusting after then it's a good time to service the forks as well.

Cheers for the link.

Yea you're right, most of it is easy but you just need to be careful with it all, only thing i would love for it everytime is a seal driver but a reasonably sized socket will do. The world of bike servicing is quite easy if you take it easy and take things slowly! Only real black art is wheel truing and suspension shim stacks...

Yeah I was surprised how busy it was. Hoping the snow stays away from Ben Aigen this weekend!

Already asked in the road bike thread but I'll try you mtb'ers as well, just curious if anyone has bought one of the cheap maintenance stands off eBay and whether they are any good? Some of the prices of ones from established shops are silly money. Ta :)

to be honest i've not been on a bike with serviced forks to know what they should feel like. they work ok and i've done my best to clean the **** off them after every ride.
