Oooh, I like that. Not sure if I could get the money in the next few days though :( What other stuff around this price range should I be looking out for?

I built my SC Heckler up for less than 1k using second hand bits with a few new uns. Really happy with the bike. I#ve gone down to a 1x9 setup and can still get up the same hills i could on my old giant xc bike

Any Canyon owners here?

I'm currently awaiting for my Nerve AL+ to turn up, it should be here the first week of Jan, I really can't wait :D

I can't wait to give Antur Stiniog a go, some of the folk from my club went a few weekends ago and I've heard it's a blast!

Ive got a 2011 nerve am 7. Really pleased with it, not had any trouble from it or its components since I got it bout 2 year ago.

Almost everyone I've asked has had nothing but great things to say. I heard a few people say there was an issue with frames breaking a few years ago but those stories are very rare, for the value of money you get I'm willing to take a punt.

I'm just hoping I got the sizing right, I've changed my mind loads of times. I'm settled on a Large now after sitting on a Large Nerve XC.

im looking to treat myself.....again to a canyon al+(already got a Ultimate SLX road bike but really mi MTBing so much)

thing is im not sure whether to get a Cotic Soul hardtail build, or this Al+, just worried about the AL+ weight so maybe a XC be better?( how hard is the XC to chuck around?)

Taking a leaf out of the Orange business model ;)

Not sure if its the other way round. I have to admit that Orange do have the upper hand on SC. At the end of my Heckler's life I hung it up in the garage with the hope of restoring it to its former glory one day, or hanging it up o my living room wall as art. With an Orange frame you can use its as scaffolding when putting an extension on your council house. So much more practical.

I didn't actually ride the XC, literally just sat in it to get an idea of the size.

There's only 1.1KG/2.4lbs difference between the XC (8.0) and AL+ (8.0) for the weight penalty you are getting longer travel and a Reverb dropper, that's worth it to me.

If you're anywhere near Skipton you can try my 2011 Nerve AM for size. At 5'10 a medium is only just big enough for me in terms of reach but I do have a short legs and a long torso.

Hey guys, not posted in here for a while.

Looking to get back into MTB after selling my Session and SX Trail, been bikeless for about a year but looking at picking up something second hand since I've been missing it since I got rid :(

What would people recommend? I don't want a DH or FR bike again but a more chuckable AM bike which I can still play around on the odd dh trail with but am more focussed on XC now, thinking Orange Five/SC Heckler kinda thing.

Going to buy used and don't really wanna spend more than £1200 as an absolute maximum, seen a 2011 Remedy 8 for sale on RIO which seems suitable, what do people think?

Ta :)

Ah sooner or later they all come crawling back :p

With £1200 you should have plenty of second hand options. To me it sounds like a no brainer to go for that Remedy (or another one) as they consistently get great reviews as all rounders, plus you will be familiar with how the bike'll feel as it has the same suspension design as your old Session. You could also get a second hand Specialized Enduro (new shape and probably the Comp model) for £1200.

Thanks for the offer, I have a Large on order, I was thinking about an XL. Medium would be too small so there's not much point in trying it :p

You seem to imply that the heckler is a good looking bike?!
