I've pretty much killed my large chainring on my boardman, it is 44t 4 bolt gxp stuff, have a superstar chainring on there at the moment but it has only lasted a year or so, rest of them are fine, anyone got any recommendations for something a bit harder wearing?

Killed how, bashing into stuff so it's munched the teeth, too much cross-chaining so it's worn too quickly or just you've ridden 10000miles? :D

1 and 3, pretty sensible with my gearing to avoid 2, mainly 3 though, probably done 1500 miles on it since I got it.

You shouldnt eat through a chainring in 1500 miles.
Did you change the chain at the same time you changed the chainring? Using a worn chain can cause the chainrings to wear faster.

im thinking of going to 1x10

I have 175mm cranks on my main bike but a set of new SLX cranks on my hardtail which are 170mm. I have never ridden the 170 cranks off the road whats the main differences? Im guessing a longer crank would give a larger power output.

I would say im a sitting climber i also tend to spin up the rear wheel when standing. Would shorter cranks have any other affects.

I bought them as they were cheap and just needed something for the bike so i can swap them over and give them a try but not sure of the advantages/disadvantages.

Sportsdirect normally have cheapo padded shorts that are decent enough.

Muddyfox I think they are.

Normally about 7-8 quid, mine just get muddy so I only buy cheapo ones :)

Cheers, I'll take a look next time I go near a Sportsdirect.

Theres an ebay seller who sells TLD moto shorts for 20ish quid!
Comes from China but who gives a ****....will link later on.

Are those the really thick padded ones? I'd rather some a little lighter, as you know I don't exactly have a big DH machine! :p So I don't really need all the padding atm, I don't even bother with my Knee Pads on this bike. I really like the look of the Royal Matrix shorts though, £34 at CRC.

Edit: Though, I'm still interested in those TLD ones, aswell as... :p

Take the pads out, it's only attached with Velcro. I do love the Royal lineup - the SP24/7 is such a good "do it all" short.

Offft, linkage would be very nice!

Fakes or real?

Well, I've owned numerous pairs before and couldn't tell the difference if they are fake. All labels present, inside mesh padding... you name it, it's all there.

These are a smidge more, but are the 2013 colours that retail at an awful lot more

Waiting all week for my bike to be delivered, So I phoned up and they told me it was out of stock...

They didnt even try to tell me that when I ordered over the phone.

Expecting delivery for 28th to them, then 3-5 days to get to me...

ARGHHH

evans? no surprise there if it is.

Far too thick is a bit of an overstatement?
Mine gets used for everything, though admittedly I also now prefer the sprints since they've got a pocket.

Maybe on overstatement, maybe not. Matter of opinion really. Personally I wouldn't want to do any all day rides wearing them.

I saw that seller selling the Moto shorts last week, was tempted for a pair. Wish they did Sprint shorts instead though.
