thats cool the 25mm tape - internal width 22-27mm

e: in fact SS have already marked my order as despatched. thats quick.. shame i selected free CRC delivery.

Had a bit of an off earlier, it was way too slippery out today, misjudged a drop and lost the front of the bike, over the bar and landed on my shoulder. Ended up sliding down the trail a fair bit too.
Helmet really took a hammering, it doesn't seem to have been compromised, hopefully I don't need to fork out for a new one.

May get on the hunt for one then, those pads were fresh in today, bedded in before I headed out, they're superstar organic ones. Are there any which are less prone to squeeling ?

My old avids j5 or my current tech M4 both on stock pads and avid rotors don't squeak, they might sound a bit gritty in the wet..

Anyone fancy doing this? :D

600 warm, south african miles with feed/sleep/mechanical stations along the way for $1M?

How about the guys riding the Highland Trail race?
550 cold, wet Scottish miles. Totally unsupported.
No marshalls, no food stops, no route signs, no prize money. If you want to sleep, you need to carry your own bed with you.

Live tracking here.
They started at 10am on saturday morning. The leader has covered around 350 miles already.

Ever tried cycling in 40 degree heat touch?

Yeah, have you ever tried dragging your bike through a peat bog in -2 degree driving rain? :p

edit: actually, no, i havnt. checked my strava, hottest i have ridden in was 37.2 degrees (and that was in Scotland!) it was a 10 hour MTB race though

Don't get me wrong, as each Scot seemingly likes to perpetuate, Scotland sure does look like an awfully sh!t place only suited for the hardest humans on earth ;)
I definitely wouldn't be riding in 40 degree heat with occasional lightning storms, OR Minus degrees through bogs.

I was away to post the same thing, touch. Would love to do something like that one day. Plan on doing some long distance rides this summer, maybe a 2-3 dayer.

Did a race in 40c heat 100% humidity through the jungles of Borneo years ago. That was fun! Takes 2-3 weeks to get acclimatised to do heavy excercise in that sort of heat.

Have you seen the Cairngorms Loop as well? Same sort of idea but 'only' 180 miles. One of my mates who is riding the Highland Trail 550 did that as a warm up and tried to persuade me to join him.
A long distance ride like that would ruin my short distance speed that i'v been building up, so i declined but i'd love to do it at some point. Maybe next year? :D

:-/

Edit:

Also a bit bored, so proceeded to go and wash the Spitty in the rain.

If you got bike problems, I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but my Spitty ain't one.

30.21 LBS of monster truckin' goodness. That's with a Schwalbe Super mavity Vertstar Mein Kampf tyre in the rear (just a bit under a pound heavier than single ply) and a generous helping of tubeless sealant.

I'm happy to take the weight hit and slower rolling, for the surefootedness this rear tyre provides.

Lovely bike :) Just a touch heavier than my Mega
To be honest, does anyone really care about the weight of AM bikes these days?

EDIT: I don't mean that in a snippy kind of way. Just an observation :)

No snippysnip taken :)
I'm just very happy that it's "low" weight, even with what is essentially a DH tyre on the rear. Comes in at 29.4 with the single ply, but I love how the SG tyre transforms the back end when descending.
