Going to ring evans and ask if they know when the rockhopper will be in stock.

EDIT - been told its coming out at the end of August and the current range will start to go on sale on the 12th of August. The bad news is that they don't have ANY 17" frames in stock......so i can't even take advantage of the sale. :(

Done some upgrades to my XTC - got rid of the soggy stock fork that was on it, replaced it with Rock Shox Revolution. Real nice ride, soaks up the terrain and has loads of adjustments that can be made and I'm loving the Pop-Loc remote control that lets me lock-out the fork on road/hills.. Also put on a Raceface Evolve XC crank, stock had a creak in it that was real annoying.

The XTC is a great starters bike because the upgradeability of it!

The XTC has a real nice frame, considering the top end model of the XTC cost twice as much of the SE, you have a lot of room for improvements. :)

p.s. how much did you pay for the upgrades for the crack and the forks?

2006 Revelation forks reduced from £370 to £260. Crank was £120. 2007 forks are out soon so the 2006 models are going cheap.

Nice, I am thinking of getting a new crank on my SE, wouldnt mind new forks but I aint paying £250.

Yesh I did spent over budget for the forks, but I got the bike for £300 so I could almost justify the purchase!

£250 for something that will last a few years is not a bad investment, considering how much our computers cost and how long we use them for before we replace them.

There are at least 14 Rock Shock 2006 models on this page here:

At least 25% off.
Meh, I make 12 :p. The one I'd consider buying is this as it's an upgrade from my current pike 426, but I think I'll wait till they bring out the 2007 range, it should knock the prices down further, either that or I'll just buy a 2007 426 as they're looking better than this year's.

Phnom_Penh, what bike do you have btw? You seem like a very knowledgeable guy on the subject, mind if i take a peak with a pic?

p.s. hopefully i will be getting the Trance tomorrow :) will post pics when i get it, provided it hasn't been abused much in the demo.

A camera's on my to get list for uni ;). So you can then :p. It's nothing that special, well, it's a **** frame (a claud butler cape wrath in black) but i've added bits and bobs on here and there and made it quite decent :). It still needs plenty of work, I've been chopping and changing a plenty, but a new frame is in order, I just need plenty more money :D.

Been a long day today and came home with a bike :D

Went to the LBS to have a look at that Trance 3, tried it on but it was just too big and the price in the shop is £850, not £800 on the net. Long story short they happens to have a new Last year's Trance 3 in so i took a ride on that and felt a lot more comfortable on it, the forks is not as nice as the newer Trance 3 but i got a discount. Big discount too, £600 off the £1350, and fitted already with some SPD pedals. All the parts are identical to the new Trance apart including the frame, mech, cranks, rims apart from from the paint and forks, but at £750 i think i got a good deal.

I wanted to swap them for some other SPDs but they had none in so i settled for these as they were free anyway. I originally planned getting some pedals so i might just do that.

Anyone care to recommend any?

I am actually thinking of some caged spd if possible. Sometimes i need to pop over to my mates quickly and won't be wearing cycling shoes.

I have Shimano M647's and they're pretty good. The other decent caged clipins are Crank Bro's mallets, which are about the same price.
