Are you taking your lunch break and getting in some steps then?
When work blows up as it is lunch is usually a quick 20 minute walk out of the office to grab something and then back to the desk. Fortunately I have about 3 miles of walking in total each day on the commute which I do at a brisk pace.

Actually taking that break alone would improve your health. Doing a walk even better, don't pay the company your time for free or health.

Fair challenge and I try where possible to get out for breaks but sadly it’s often the reality of life in a city job. No such thing as a free lunch. Whether I’ll regret it in the future is something to wrestle with.

One of my targets this Christmas, was not to balloon and then spend Jan, Feb and Mar trying to get my weight back down. Well looking at averages, last year Jan was 15st 8.3, this Jan was 15st 4.6. This morning, I stepped off the scales at 15st 1.7. (Last Feb ave was 15st 6.3)

I now need to decide what to do here. Usually, 15st 2 is my target. I think in the past I decided that was a good place to be (for cycling), but I'm kinda tempted to go a bit lower and see how I feel.

Lost 7 pounds in January.
Doing about 3-3.30 hours of cardio per week (Peloton bike and concept 2 rower).

Just joined PureGym, going to try and do two strength workouts minimum per week.

Aiming to lose a few more stone and put on muscle. Completely changed my diet, only drinking water and black coffee, high protein low carb.

Well done on hitting your target! I guess it depends on what your ultimate goals are. Is it to have a six pack on the beach, is it to lift heavy stuff in the gym, or is it to cycle further and faster? If it's the latter, then presumably leaner is better (although I've not been able to test this myself as I've not had the time for long cycles recently :()? You need energy for cycling, but it's nice not to haul that extra mass up a hill I guess.

From a personal point of view, I dropped from 98-99kg to 92-93kg and was pleased, so decided to drop further to 87-88kg. I definitely felt better at a lower weight and seemed to have more energy in a leaner state as well as clothes fitting better. Currently hovering just above 90, but want to get leaner, still struggling with Xmas mass somewhat.

Bang on 87kg this morning, pleased with that. Can definitely see a difference after hitting the gym 5 nights a week for the last month,so just going to carry on with that.
Was looking at some really nice clothes yesterday in a rather expensive shop, so going to treat myself when I get to where I want to be. All the clothes that are now a bit big for me are going to charity, no more of this 'I'll keep them in case I get big again' crap.

Been doing 25 mins on the treadmill 4-5x a week for a few weeks and i've not lost anything which is annoying! Thought my diet was ok, 1 takeaway a week but maybe thats too much.
Porridge for breakfast with a tea spoon of nutella
bowl of m ixed beans and sardines for lunch
Dinner can be anything, maybe this is where i go wrong.

Drink maybe 4-5 pints a week.
Goal is to lose 1 stone.

I wfh so gym is the only real excercise i get other than being out and about on weekends.

Stuck around 95kg. Got down to 91Kg before last xmas. But my colitis flared up so was put back on the steroids and had to watch what i ate (nothing that would irritate it) Still in a flare up now, been over 12 months which is infuriating to say the least.

Had a colonoscopy last month and the dreaded moviprep emptied me of 3kg of, erm Sh** and water.

Ideally I want to get down to around 75Kg. At 50 yrs old this year i need to look after myself.
Good thing though is I reversed my type 2

After my ‘stoic’ pre-Christmas posts about not going overboard, I did allow myself to relax with food and drink… always doing a little exercise but otherwise being moderately gluttonous.

The damage is in: 1-2 lbs gained (after losing all the water mass over the last few days). S’alright.

Physiologically, it’s been a real come down. I’ve been supremely on edge and anxious without these lowly satiations. Goodness, being alive is such an ordeal… we are set up to fail to destructive ‘needs’! Hopefully this calms down in the upcoming weeks.

Meanwhile, I’m absolutely monstering ‘the swim’. In yesterday’s session I did 92 lengths (25m each so 2,300m) in 41 mins, all front crawl, burning 526 ‘active’ kcals according to my Apple Watch. OK that’s not exactly swim club standard but I was pretty darn proud of myself

My update - had two weeks almost bed ridden with a crappy illness, bah! So Jan was a bit disappointing but back on a roll.

The splits are continuing as follows:

Day 1: 1200-1300 active kcals burned from 40 minute swim and 90 minutes of walking

Day 2: 700-800 active kcals burned from 90 mins walking and weights
(alternate every day)

Target is to eat about 1000kcals under “BMR + active kcals”. Which as my BMR is 1800ish means eating 1500-1900.

Sitting on 12 stone 11.

Target: 11 stone - at that point I should have no places with a ‘handful of flab’.

Bring it on.

Sticking the treadmill on an incline will help if you're not already doing that. 80 calories in that teaspoon of nutella unfortunately, not a lot but then times that by 10, 100, 1000... Chuck some frozen fruit in it instead and see if you enjoy it.
The beer won't help either unfortunately. 180 cals or so in a pint. I've been on the wagon since the middle of December, did dry January and have just carried on.

The main problem is that beer is delicious. Definitely cancelled out any gains with some beers this evening. On call at the weekend so did my weekly allowance in one night I guess.

Still lacking the final bit of focus needed here.

I've got a fully stocked drinks cabinet, and absolutely no urge whatsoever to drink any of it currently, which is a bit weird tbh, but I am being quite focused on the weight and getting fitter, and not going to spend hours in the gym just to be able to have a drink.
Once I'm where I want to be I will relax a bit, which will mean being in a field with thousands of others getting hammered in the sunshine... :D

Beer is delicious? Maybe i'm odd but a family member asked why i never drink wine. I just said it doesn't taste that nice to me and that coca cola is my favourite drink. Now i only have 1 can of it a week as its bad for you. But he was genuinely surprised when I said i prefer the taste of soft drinks to alcoholic ones. Don't get me wrong i do drink beer when i go out but i would never describe it as "delicious", its okay at best/

I'm with you. I was the odd kid when growing up that when my friends said beer was 'an acquired taste' I asked why I would want to acquire it?! If I want to get drunk, pass the vodka. If I want something that tastes nice, pass a coke. (Vodka tastes terrible too, but is over very quickly.)
