Big macs bigger?

The difference between America and England is that the american's expect decent service and they will do what it takes to get it. In England we accept what we are given. The quality of the food served up in fast food places is substantially better over in america. Particularly their subways.

But my point is, England's fast food is atrocious.

How does the better service = better tasting food at a subway? In fact how do you even get better service at a subway? They just put what you tell them to on your chosen bread.

I wouldn't know so much about mcdonalds as i've not had it since I was 11 and I can't remember what it was like in america too well then.

Rubbish, its just the same, Went to Popeyes to try and KFC, KFC was terrible and service was rude and Popeyes was awful.

How can you say its better when you have so many in a short distance.

Burgers are the same but the meal sizes are different.

Here in Norway a normal meal is a large one in the uk. And a large meal is same size chips and drinks but with a double cheeseburger added.

the american website lists a bigmac as 540 calories, the uk wesite says 490 so they are a bit different.. more fat and sugar with less protein and fibre in the US ones

UK

USA

I remember many years ago I went into a Maccy D's and asked for a big mac without mayonaise. The guy serving me said that big macs don't have mayo on them, he said they had "special sauce" but as he said it he winked at me. Now, that sent a shiver down my spine and i told him to cancel that order and I left.

WHY DID HE WINK!!!

Never had a big mac since, in fact I have probably only been back to mcd's a couple of times since and only for a sausage mcmuffin.

WHY DID HE WINK!!!

Genuinely LOL. Special sauce indeed.

I don't like thousand island dressing which is basically big mac sauce. Usually have a quarter pounder with cheese but sometimes it tastes liek it's been sitting there for 30 minutes.

Glad they've got the big tasty with bacon back for a bit now. Epicly huge and the sauce is amazing.

Since my "Big mac special sauce" incident it has been Subway for me. I choose all the ingredients AND I DON'T HAVE ANY SAUCE.

:D

I am pretty much on the floor just now. I too would have been horrified!

First thought is that the calorie difference would relate to the bun rather than the burger. The bread is probably sweetened more for a start and that could make up the calorie difference on its own.

The US burger sizes are the same from what I've seen, same with mcflurries, portions of fries and drinks are different though, generally it's a size up from UK size. A medium bag here is the small bag there and our large box thing is their medium. They them have the supersize as the large and an actual supersize. Then there are the half gallon tubs of drink!

Unlike Fox I try and do the food tourism, sometimes when you're in the middle of nowhere or with a load of Americans the only place you can get food from in the end is Maccy Ds... :p

Such a shame they don't do milkshakes over there! After a few weeks of living off camping food and being hungry, hot and dirty a milkshake would have gone down soooo well...

Burger King chips immediately lose 1,000,000 points for being coated in flour... At least McDOnalds just have chip, oil and salt...

Spent a fair amount of time in USA/Canada and Big Mac is same size. fries and drinks come by the pallet though.

its all about A&W Grandpa burger though...
