Biggest 'WOW!' factor from a component you've upgraded?

Two things I can think of are:

1. Going from a dual core amd 3800x2 939 cpu to a C2D E6300

and

2. When I went from a 19" TFT to an OcUK 24" TFT :D

I went from...

AMD Athlon 64 3500+
1GB Ram
ATI X1800XT
Windows XP

To...

Q6600 Quad Core
2GB Ram (Now 4GB)
8800GTX
Windows Vista

Was quite a big difference :D

Something like my current System I have a 6800Gt card on a AMD Athlon 64 3400+ with 1.5Gb RAM.....

hope the new system later in the year is as huge a jump as I hope....

Wow Factor Would be my X-Fi card. Soundblaster Extreme. BF2 was like a new game with it.......Directional sound plus everything sounded great on it….I was really annoyed I had been playing BF2 for six months without it.

My first pc back in 93 was a dx2 66mhz with wait for it 2Mb Ram.......went to 4Mb for theme park original as with 4MB you could ride the rides.........:D

But then again I'm from zx81 with 16K Ram...........

my old system

2400xp socket A Althon
440mx 64mb-->5500 128mb
512mb Pc 2100
80gb ide 4200rpm
17''CRT---->19'' crt (took half my room up!)

Now

E6600 @ 3.3ghz
2GB mem
8800GTS 512mb
800GB sata 7200
19" lcd

Such a jump, best money i have ever spent:D:D

Probably upgrading my old Socket A xp 2200+ system to a intel e2160 system, changed my time to boot up time from around 5 minutes to 30 seconds :P.

I also noticed a big upgrade from my 15" 1024/768 monitor to a 20" widescreen samsung pebble.

In recent times has to be move from 20" TN to 24" PVA - smile each time I switch on :)

Overall would be installation of 3dFx graphics from standard 1mb 'graphics' card :D

Honestly - when I went from 4 meg memory to 16 meg memory on my mobo.
It ran my 386SX25 system super fast compared to everybody elses.

The least impressive was going from a P4 3.6 to my E6600 Quad.
I honestly can't see any difference after nearly a year.
In fact my P4 was faster at a lot of things.

But then again I'm from zx81 with 16K Ram...........

Luxury - I was ZX80 with a 4k upgrade.

Some real cheap generic ram which was probally ddr1 ram and then to Patriot DDR2 8500 ram man everything was fast and multi tasking felt great.

Since I started gaming on the PC most of my upgrades have been pretty regular, usually once on each generation so I don't usually see a huge improvement.

But the ones that stand out are:

Going from a 14" CRT to a 19" CRT

Going from a 64mb MX440 to a 128mb 9600pro which clocked that well that my upgrade to a 9800pro was dissapointing lol
(To the best of my knowledge it was the highest clocking non volt modded 9600pro on air)

Going from an overclocked AMD 3800 X2 to a stock Intel C2D E4300

Hopefull I will see a big difference going from P4 3.06 ghz 6800 gt and 1.5 gig of ram to q9550 280 geforce and 4 gig of ram.

Also gonna go from 19 inch scratched monitor to a 24 inch so might improve my gaming intime for spore and when i finall bother to get crysis!
