I'm sooo tempted to pick up an Aprilia Tuono in the next few months, stonking value - 130bhp v-twin, hmm :D

And plenty comfy enough to do some long distance touring on.

If you decide to get one the rsvr.net forums are great and contain loads of info. If your around the Tamworth area it's worth popping into Aprilia Performance for a chat and to get the bike checked over

When are you planning on buying the Tuono?

Won't be for another few months, but I'll be keeping my eye out for any close by, I'd want one in mint condition with some decent pipes :D

I'm a member on apriliaforum.com but will check out rsvr.net too :) I know the pre 2008 bikes had stator issues but apparently it's an easy fix. I've been a member of the Aprilia Performance facebook group for ages now :D

You won't be disappointed if you get one, I've got a Gen 2 RSV and love it. A great upgrade is the Aprilia Performance rear sets if you can get your hands on a set.

What's the difference in expensive crash pads and cheaper ones (from UK, not China)?

How many of you actually have them on your bike/s? :p

Isn't it funny? My mate has 3 years NCB and I've 0 years NCB, the insurance quote for the SV comes out exactly the same... lol?

Get the Tuono V4R, it's a very nice upgrade over the V2's

Maybe, in a few years :D Insurance is too high on them still. I saw an RSV4 RF at P&H on sunday, not sure what exhaust it had oh my god the noise it made was amazing!

The fact you can pick the the V2's up for £4-5k means I can buy one early summer and get some use out of it this year, if I had to wait until September/October, well I may as well wait until April/March as it would just get tucked away in the garage until spring and not see any use for 5 months. Even if I only keep it a year I doubt I'll lose much money if I buy a decent one, and insurance is pretty good at £350 fully comp (vs well over £1000 for a V4)

That's probably enough power for me for now :p

I'll keep a look out for one, and if a nice condition one comes up nearby(ish) I may well pick one up, but obviously I'm in no rush, it's not like I don't have a bike :D It's more that I really want something nicer for the summer and to tour on, and I'm not sure I can wait a year! :D

I'll probably get a garage sorted May/June time (I'll be getting an asgard metal garage as I don't have a garage at the moment) as I wouldn't buy something nice without having somewhere to tuck it up out of the British weather.

Yeah they're not the best on fuel, 35mpg and an 18 litre tank so roughly 130 miles to a tank (highly dependant on your right wrist!) which is doable for touring, just means more breaks from riding :p

I did Scotland on my Speed Triple and would fill up every 120 miles or so (it'll do a bit more, but generally at least started looking for petrol at 120). It's absolutely fine, do you really want to be chewing the miles up any quicker? You have to stop and enjoy the places you're going through, even if it is just a petrol stop.

There are so many owner reports of only being able to go 100/105 miles before the bike completely starves itself, as low as 85 when "having fun".

You know what, I'm not sure!

It could very well have been the V4 as all the conversations I've been reading were around the year 2011.

I normally get around 120 miles on a tank with some spirited riding and mine is essentially the same engine.

Went and sat on a 690SMC today, what a fantastic bike. I'm really edging towards a Husqvarna 701s as my first bigger bike (RJ is testing one out on his channel atm!) so went to check out the bike they're modeled on. It barely weighs more than my wr125x but has over 4 times the HP.

The nearest place which sells the 701s is an hour and a half away... but speaking to the guys at the local KTM place, they said theres no reason why it couldn't be serviced there as it's pretty much the 690smc with a few changes. That would solve one issue.

The only thing stopping me is the cost - might be a bit stupid spending so much money on a first big bike... the second hand 690s are crazily priced though - they don't seem to lose much in value. Would feel a bit crappy paying for a 4 year old bike just a thats a few k under retail...

Anybody going to Matlock on Sunday ? I've still not been fit enough to get the bike out but I won't give up on it till I know how I feel Saturday as after a long few weeks I am actually getting better day by day, Fingers crossed the next few days goes well.

Anyways, Whose going & what you going on ?
