So after a long day bike browsing I've put a deposit down on an ER6F that I find I fit quite comfortably on; going to be test riding it next weekend and if all is well buying it. This has brought forth my realisation that I have a lack of maintenance items. What should I be looking at buying for general maintenance?

Currently got a list consisting of a set of stands and some form of chain cleaner and chain lube.

You'll need to be able to clean, adjust and lube the chain as a bare minimum, so chain cleaner & lube (WD40 stuff is good, not WD40 itself but the chain lube and cleaner), rear paddock stand unless it has a centre stand, and a big enough socket for the rear axle nut (and one for the chain adjuster).

This plus a tyre pressure gauge and pump are the absolute minimum.

I've got two gauges that I use for my car, I presume they're fine? One is built into the pump the other is one of the bar meters. Hasn't got a centre stand so will need to get a rear stand, is there a huge difference in quality with going from a more generic one to the likes of an ABBA stand?

Yep they'll be fine as long as you can actually get them on the valves, there's a lot less clearance once you're dealing with the brake discs.

For general maintenance a paddock stand will be absolutely fine, the Abba stands are great though for anything a bit more involved.

Thanks, it won't be any time soon. I'll have to prepare the spot that the shed will go over, I'll probably just wait for spring/summer.

So this turned up yesterday... Wonder what it could be!

Yay, my fairings have made it over from China. From order to delivery it took about a month and that was including Chinese new year.

I did open the box but there was so much packaging that I was scared to take it all out as I wont be able to get it back in easily. I'll bite the bullet tonight as I need to inspect it.

I did look at a few small pieces and on one of them I found a few imperfections....

On this part I noticed a tiny chip or something was stuck in the red part of the paint and also a tiny bit of black paint may have spread out. I also noticed an eyelash stuck in the black paint on one part but nothing that someone would notice unless I pointed it out.

All things considered - I paid £390 all in - I'm pretty happy. People have said set aside 6 hours for fitting so going to get a friend to help me out. If it fits as well as some reviews have said I'm almost tempted to buy another set and petrol tank.

Wish the Yamaha didn't use a proper tank rather than plastic covers but oh well.

Its cold... the rain was freezing up on my jumper that I had over my leathers, summer gloves weren't a good idea. My thumbs are sore still, they were numb by the time I got back. I want spring! :(

You could actually see rain turn into snow at some point...
