Legally i think a helmet is all thats required but i imagine if you turned up in t-shirt and trainers even if they would take you out they'd be looking for a reason to fail you.
I turned up in Vans, Jeans, Textile Jacket, Gloves, Helmet and still got told off for not wearing appropriate footwear and normal jeans when I did my A2 Mod1. Like @iron_monkey said, its better to give a good impression of yourself, most of the instructors are strict on rules and safety...

I would definitely suggest wearing the best gear you can afford I've been in a few motorbike accidents and I dread to think what I'd look like or if I'd even be here if I hadn't been wearing good gear.
That was 8 years ago, my gear hasn't turned up yet. I use to wear 2pc leathers, Boots etc.

I wear all the appropriate gear except for wearing normal trainers. I just much prefer them, they are better for changing gear, for braking, and for stability. But i have only tried 1 pair of proper (above the ankle) biker boots. Maybe i need to try more.
Alpinestars SMX6 once broke in are soooo comfy :D They also saved my foot when it was dragged down the road under 200kg bike, I had to bin them as they were pretty beat up after that, but they did their job.

On top of the £490 that flew out my account for progressive Mod1 & Mod2 from A2 to A, another £125 flew out on the Mod2 retake. Ironically, I'm riding the same bike I did when I took the A2 and can't feel the difference, as I get the bollocking from the instructor that I'm ragging the bike. lol I would love to hear some arguments how this is beneficial in anyway, apart from the governments budget...

Has anyone ever bought a Cat N write off before? If yes, anyone used Motomine from the popular auction site? I've been following their completed listings and did a bit of market research, the prices the bikes sell for taking into account they've a Cat N and need parts which aren't cheap. It doesn't seem feasible to go through the hassle, when for a few hundred more you can get a HPI Clear bike which is not only easier to resell, but there's no hassle involved with repairing it.

Screw baby steps, you’ve been riding long enough :p
I'm rusty...
:D
Well done dude! What are you riding atm? I know you had an SV650 for a bit, but an S1000RR is a lot of performance.
Nothing, I rode a few bikes, a Street Triple 675R, MZ ETZ251, CRF300M in Thailand and the Hornet 750 I passed on. I'm going to book some test drives and over winter start looking for a bargain, I keep an eye on a few bikes and they aren't selling, only prices are dropping.

I saw you passed too, congrats, what are you buying or bought? Sorry, I skim through the posts.

Congrats dude!!
Thank you
Cheers, not sure yet. I live and work in London so a scooter is pretty much guaranteed, looking at the Honda ADV350 at the moment. That said, I might hire a large bike in the coming weeks and see how I get on.
I can see why people choose scooters over bikes in bigger cities, they're less of a faff in congested traffic and the storage is handy. Bike rental is expensive in the UK, I would go abroad, the saving will pay for the hotel/flights and you'll have a chance to explore a new place - 2 birds with 1 stone :D

What bike related YouTube channels is everyone watching these days? Any recommendations?

The ones I'm subbed to, are;
- Fortnine - in terms of video quality, cinematics and no bs straight to the point videos, its hard to beat this channel, even some of my mates who have no interest in bikes watch his videos lol
- Revzilla - Zack's and Ari's videos mainly, the guy with the beard (looks like Hagrid) who has the technicial segment is alright too.
- 44 Teeth - Rarely though, too much talking in most videos.
- Superbikeracer
- Enduro KeX
- Querly
- Tarzan Motovlog
- Stunt Freaks Team

Is anyone running a 6x4 plate? I remember having a 7x5 and never had any issues with it, but some bikes I'm considering would look better with a 6x4. :p

There's a youngster local to here who has a CBR125R with a fart can on it. He revs the absolute nuts off it every single time he rides it, you can almost feel the macho emanating from him as he comes past on what sounds like a lawnmower with a knackered exhaust. I watch people tut and express their disgust as he goes past but his whole body language is "the ladies are currently spreading their cheeks for me" - it's great. Reminds me of when I was a wee lad with a tuned up two-stroke, I felt like the king of the world as I came past on a bike screaming its nuts off at 50mph :D

Everywhere else is 7k, I'm pretty sure dealerships have some type of contract/agreement with the manufacture that prevents them selling stuff cheaper - this is why some throw some accessories into the deal. 6k would be tempting though! :p
