How many NCB's? Change of address?Just getting the insurance quotes ready for when my new bike is delivered in about 10 days time.
Seems insurance has gone very cheap for me, being only 33 I’ve paid in excess of £1000 before for certain bikes but my cheapest quote so far with EU cover, helmet and leather cover and breakdown cover is £271 fully comprehensive which I’m very surprised about!
I know all the tricks, tried and tested everything that they recommend online. I even used VPN and proxies to see if that makes a difference. No change of address and 7 years NCB.
They say the trick with insurance is to do it 21 days in advance, so if you’re looking for insurance quotes on the 1st, have the policy start on the 22nd and see how much the quote changes, could be nothing but it’s worth seeing if it’s true.
There's another option, rent a van and pick it up in a VAN. My local rental place, familly run business only charges £55 for 24h, obviously you need to count for fuel cost. What’s the longest anyone has ridden a bike home after collection?
My mate wants to collect his bike, it’s £245 for delivery or a £35 train ticket and a 5 hour 45 minute ride back!
Tell him to inspect the bike before signing for the delivery. He opted for delivery just not worth the hassle this time of year.
Check local rental places, there's a local business near me that rents vans for as cheap as £50 for 24h during the week, weekend days are £70 or more.I need to rent a van to go collect it though, another £100 or so :/
Lucky! lol, I haven't checked yet, might do some quotes tomorrow to get some feelers.£130ish for mine TPFT, £240ish if I wanted fully comp. 6 points, 2 fault accidents and no garage so I'm pretty happy with those figures
Apparently, even if its 100% 3rd parties fault, your insurance still goes up as in the insurers eyes you're a higher risk.Approx £1k quotes for me on a Triumph Speed Twin, 54 years old. But newish rider, no NCD and a recent (non fault) accident.
Ouch.
I didThere's gotta be a few here that's owned an SV650?
Not really, engine can die from front cylinder oil starvation. There're are some mitigation tricks, but wheeling for too long is still not recommended. The only way one should be ridden.
