No it was Plymouth - they also had a Yamaha dealership in Exeter and possibly Southampton so maybe part of the same group. Can't remember the details but they'd been at Plymouth for a long time.
Yeah maybe was part of a chain, not that I am a HD guy but shame to see any long standing dealers go. I think the Southampton one has been there at least 20 years.

Nor me but I did get my current Street Triple from the plymouth triumph shop which had been there similar amount of time. Times 'a changin! :(
 
Test ride of the F900XR today....Thought it was brilliant, order placed :) Should have it within 2 weeks hopefully.
I have the bike now, just ordered a Givi top box and the adapters etc for it.
Need a new lid, thinking the Schuberth C5, I like the built in comms etc(if you buy the sena attachment). Any others to consider?

Are you looking at ECE 22.06 only? If not there should still be ECE 22.05 rated ones on discount. I got an HJC RPHA 70 Carbon recently for half price (£249). It is very comfortable, light at 1400 gms and quiet. Also saw Shoei GT Air 2 for around £300 ish. I was looking at aforementioned ones mainly for the built in down visor for those October and March months where Sun is right in front of your eyes.

I had not even clocked those changes! To be honest, I am easy to go for either, I suppose I need to go and try some on and see what is comfy etc. my current one is a few years old, that’s the main reason I want to replace it. (Shark)

Also take a look at the Shoei Neotec 2 and Neotec 3. I love my Neotec 2.
 
It's been a long time since i bought or sold a motorbike to anyone other than a mate, but will be looking to sell my 2005 ZX10r in the near future.

1/ How are things done re taking a bike for a test ride these days?
2/ Is it still the thing to take all aftermarket things off? (can, seat pod, tail tidy etc)
3/ Is the bay and mug-book marketplace the best option, or MCN / Autotrader worth doing?
4/ I'm not trading in for another bike, so I'm guessing that a dealership is not a good idea?

It feels like I'm more likely to be ripped off now than I was back in the early 2000's. But that may just be me being mid 50's instead of mid 30's.

I can give you a buyers perspective since I got a new to me big bike via FB Marketplace.

1) I did not take a test ride as I am new to big bikes. Some sellers wanted Cash in hand or money in account if anyone wanted a test ride. One has to be very confident (or stupid) to hand over money for a measly test ride where you can barely scrape the performance of a high end superbike imo. The least I would expect is the potential buyer showing evidence that they are covered on their existing insurance on any motorcycle they ride within UK.
2) Short answer 'Nope'. You can mention you what aftermarket stuff you have added on the Bike and if you still have the originals. You can include them with the bike and the buyer can decide whether they want to remove aftermarket and install originals. You don't really have to do it, its your choice. Please mention what service history you have and any user manuals (Haynes/original) with the bike. If possible, how many owners and how long you have had the bike for.
3) I only did eBay for one bike but I did not bid, only asked for service history which there wasn't any so I bailed. Mostly it was Autotrader but I ventured FB Marketplace as I could see better deals on them for my budget (<£2000). Just like there are stupid low ballers I encountered a stupid seller who called me a scammer when I politely asked for the Reg to check MOT history. (P.S. That bike is still on sale whilst I have had mine for more than a month). Ignore the low ballers and take a safe approach/guess on the potential buyers genuine interest.
4) You won't get a good price at a dealership as it will be evaluated on Trade-in values. Check on WeBuyAnyBike or similar on what price you can get. You will definitely get more on a private sale.

Check Autotrader on prices. I can see two on sale that are for £3499 and £4499 from dealers. Both 2005. Private would be slightly cheaper.
