Having been chatting to Lukechad about a bikers meet. We've come together with a few ideas.

We've set the date to be Sunday 28th of May (obviously if the weather ends up being rubbish we'll have to maybe do a bit of altering).

We wanted to keep it fairly central, but at the same time places where there are some roads to ride, but places to sit down and have a chat.

So far we have had suggestions of maybe around Bassets Pole, around Loughborough, and a bit further south around Northampton. These are just ideas, and once an area is chosen we'll dig a little deeper and explore the options open to us.

The objective of the meet? Meet up some people from here, make some new friends, and generally have a nice safe fun ride a nice pub lunch, some appreciation of each other's machines and then a bit more of a blast.

I have set up a poll with the 3 areas we have in mind - plus an "other" area, bear in mind we want to keep this fairly central. If you do vote "other", please mention you suggestion in your post.

Last time this idea was run around there was a lot of interest - let's see if the interest is still around. :)

The one which is furthest north would be good for me :D

Will you be able to make it?

I only know Loughborough having gone to uni there, there are lots of country roads and quite a lot of good pubs in the country side. It's near Melton Mowbray which is quite fun.

Bassets Pole is a popular biker meeting place - though usually on Tuesdays apparently.

And northampton was an option open to the more southern people. Feel free to suggest something fairly central though. :)

When im home from uni I work about 2 mins drive from there, many a time I have been to that McDonalds for lunch.
There is always a big biker guy sitting outside with a harley, looks like a bit of a nutter.
Some nice roads round there.
 
I keep having to reset the "other" entry to 0. If you're not going to specify an other place, don't bother voting as it really doesn't help :p
 
ouch, roughly 140 miles of motorway riding to Bassetts Pole. Not ideal for the NC30 :eek:

Depending on where you all eventually meet, I may come along with the camera to document the meet up, seeing as I am an ex-biker myself :)
 
I'm not a biker so won't be attending but if I were you guys I'd avoid Bassets Pole. I used to live close by (and my parents still do) and it normally has a high Police presence due to some large meets there a few years ago with some very irresponsible riding. I'm sure you guys wouldn't do anything bad but I'd hate for your day to be ruined because the Police decide to stop you all.
 
Anywhere central sounds good, don't fancy doing too many miles on my 33bhp, 170kg naked 350cc Honda on a motorway (very uncomfortable riding at speed for a long time.)

If they ride sensibly (i.e don't do excessive speed) you'll have no problem keeping up.
 
It's more about meeting up and getting to know one another - there will be no doubt as there is in every motor meet a bit of showboating no doubt. But I would hope that people behave fairly sensibly, have a decent blast in the countryside, a nice pub lunch, a fun chat, and a bit more of a blast. I always stick implicitly to the speed limits.... most of the time.
 
Im booking my bike test tomorrow, will be late March before I can get a test date. Im looking to buy an SV650S, i'll be up for this provided everything goes right.


edit : i meant monday, not tomorrow :p
