Dammit! If I've got a replacement set of wheels I'll be there. Just a suggestion, but Jack's Hill Café on the A5 (1/2 mile north of Towcester) has a good reputation for food. Plus the A5 is a nice road to ride. :)
 
just found this, would be quite tempted to dust the ZX6 off and meet you guys :D

Havent specified a preference because i don't have one (tho fancy bassets pole least)
 
I think Bassets Pole is not going to happen, I really do like the look of the place treefrog suggested, the A5 is only up the road from me, its about 15 miles up the A444, then straight on the A5, so an easy (but boring) route for me :)
 
Don't think it will be a good idea to meet there , The entire area is going to be swarming with Bikes / Police because of the WSBK race. We should keep away from any of the main routes to Silverstone.
 
Well northampton has won the votes - I guess we have to go with that as mrgrubby does make a good point. However it doesn't HAVE to be the 28th of may, we can delay it by a week for example if that is a cool place to meet?

Hmm so much for setting a date and sticking with it :p
 
Right then guys, here's the offer - as I used to be a biker, this interests me, however I no longer have my bike!

So, how about if I came down in the car and followed you guys, taking some photos along the way so you've got a nice collection of decent photographs to remember the day by.

I'm presuming you're not going to be doing silly speeds as I know you're all very sensible on here ;) so i'd hopefully be able to keep up in the Golf.

Hehe! Last time I looked (~ 1 year ago) there were no speed cameras on the A5 between the M6 and Milton Keynes

I'm sure that that Tesco lorry I followed up there one night at 60mph had been stolen! How?

It was a Tesco lorry doing more than 40mph!!! :D

Cool, count me in then - i'll have the car rigged up with my video camera, and i'll also bring my SLR - so we should be able to get a some good footage and stills :)

I would quite like to meet you MrSix and talk photography anyway :) I'd like to see what shots you could get of us also.

As for the date, its pretty flexible at the moment but I will need to know a definate date in the next 6 weeks max in order to book time off work for it. :)

The idea of this thread was just to really settle on a locaition, a proper thread will be sorted out in a few weeks time when we are a bit closer to the lovely summer!

As northapmton won the votes I am going to start looking around for more places to possibly meet up. I am still very keen on the place TF suggested though!
 
So am I. But if it's during an even it'll cause issues. Of course the date can be moved, but that has to be decided ASAP so as to let people organise their lives. :)
 
to throw my 2p in i dont think WSBK meetup would be best really.

I think perhaps (assuming its summery!) a pub beer garden or car park in a quieter area would be a good idea. That way easy to spot each other, away from traffic and police and a good jump off for some food (if people have been travelling a long way)

If anyone needs to stop at mine (Leicester city centre) who's coming from a long way away they're welcome btw. Will only be a sofa oe something but you're welcome.

I agree that meeting in that part of the world furing the WSBK is probably not a good idea, but Northampton area which is the area that has won should be out of the way enough no? If not then a new date can be decided. However the Northampton area has been set now.

I have just heard that Northampton has the highest number of speed camera per mile of road :(

I am asking some bikers from northampton as I type this for recommendations of pubs we could go to :)
