Bikers Youtube thread

Why do bikes not come with steering dampers as standard? Are there any negatives to having one or is it just additional cost?

If anyone was a fan of the long way round, or adventure travel at all, this series is worth spending a few hours watching. i watched this a few years back before it was on youtube.

One Irish block doing, on his own, what McGregor and Boorman did with god knows how much support.

Truly inspiring, makes you want to jack it all in and disappear off for a year :D

Oh his Dublin to New York (going East) trip starts at episode 12 with the prep and episode 13 he starts the big trip.

I would love to do it, but I doubt I'll ever find the courage to do something as crazy. I bet it would be an amazing life experience! :)

Awesome - thank you. That's going to keep me busy for a few evenings!

Or maybe not - just stopped some way through episode 2. Wanted a biking series, ended up with a poor travel documentary.

Skip ahead to episode 13 and start from there, that's his big trip. He does a lot of seeing stuff - the WWI trenches/cemeteries etc, plus other bits so it's not all bike stuff - a lot is about seeing parts of the world by bike. It gets good when he starts to hit the more remote areas.

Its not a pure biking series, more seeing the world by bike.

Some Twin shock Trials I filmed last weekend at the Carsons Farm trial, Matlock, Derbyshire.
really like seeing some of the older bikes.
If everything goes to plan I will be joining them soon, On my 1979 Beamish Suzuki.

@TallPaul_S, Do you know any more series like this? I'll probably complete this within a week or two. :p

Yep, these are more 'pure' biking rather than travel stuff:

There's Andymancam's big Euro tour - I subbed to him because of this tour
28 videos in this series.

If you don't mind offroad stuff, then there's ridingwithtom and nerb1 crossing the Simpson desert in Australia on a KTM690 enduro, 1190 adventure R and a triumph explorer

and veefour's small eurotour (not quite as good but still entertaining)

Hmm, quite a good teqnique to dispatch middle lane hoggers, 6:30 onwards.

I'll give this a try tomorrow, I get some right stubborn drivers who refuse to move over on my commute.

I've tried that on single carrige way before, didn't work on a lot of cars. It did work on a few though! :p

How do you guys thank someone who gives you way in traffic, when I filter sometimes its really tight and sticking my leg out would mean hitting a car and letting go of the handlebars at low speed isn't ideal either. :p
