Bikers Youtube thread

I like his Mulholland videos, always watch them.

If that road was in the UK though, it would be covered in average speed cameras.

Incredible Swiss mountain pass - that's another added to the list!

This is (a large) part of the reason for having a bike for me, forget the riding to work beating the traffic, forget the Sunday morning hoons, I'd happily travel the world on a bike and see all this. :D

In fact looking at the map and the list of passes which are all quite close to each other, I think an bike trip staying around the same area (2-3 nights in the same place) would be epic, there's just so many places to ride there.

I have 2 videos of Susten that I really must get around to editing over winter.

It's a really nice pass. Far from the best here but lovely views and one of my favourites.

Edit: Come say hi when you do, I'm less than 2 hours from Susten (at the speed limit...).

The views on that one look like they're from a painting, just awesome

My only objection to the Alps, is how far they are away! You could get there in a day (super early eurotunnel and 500 miles of mile munching on French autoroutes) but that would be hell on my bike, maybe ok on a bigger touring machine though. 2 days and 50/50 interesting roads/motorway is easier and more enjoyable, but it takes up a large part of the trip if you only have a week.

I'd want a week, bed n breakfast stop offs ect, give you plenty time to enjoy it rather than blast through and miss everything

Jaw dropping views, if you wouldn't mind... would you share your list on here? I've whole week off, I prefer to watch vids like this instead of TV. :D

Haha, I've just been starring them on google maps as I've seen them on youtube, either from Kreee or Baron or whoever. When I say list - I mean list of roads to ride when I do an Alps trip. :D

Going from west to east, I have:

Jaun pass
Grimsel pass
Susten pass
Klausen pass
Stelvio pass (I know it's overrated, but it's one to say you've done, after all it's the most famous (or well know) pass)
And in Austria, the Grossglockner which is the highest pass in Austria, 8,215ft.

A week minimum without a doubt, and once I have a more comfortable bike I can see me doing a few trips to the alps, a (long) day to get there isn't too bad.

Thanks, are there any other countries which you would like to visit? e.g. Spain, Italy, France etc?

Loads. :D

There's the Picos de europa national park in northern spain (perfectly located for the Portsmouth to Santander/Bilbau ferries), ALL of italy (I'd love to do the whole length of italy right down to the bottom and back up), the black forest and vosges mountains in southern Germany/France, then there's the Route Napoleon down to the south of france, plus the Milau viaduct. Oh and the Dolomites, they're at the far east end of the alps. And the Prynees.

In the UK, the Northcoast 500 http://www.northcoast500.com/home.aspx is one to do sometime as well.

Europe is a huge place with so many great places - one thing I've not done is travel enough - I've been to the Alps in winter (Aosta) and I've been to Egypt, as well a lot of the UK (Wales/Cornwall/Devon) but overseas travel isn't something I've done a lot of. But, have bike - will travel :D being on a bike and (mostly) camping makes for a decent value trip and you get to see a lot more of a country than if you flew there and stayed in a hotel for a week in one place (can't stand holidays where you sit by a pool all day, every day!).

I hate that type of holiday too, I really don't understand what's the fun in getting drunk next to a pool? Apart from the bikinis not much to see, is there? :p

Rode that pass last month (yep that tiny dot on the road is me on the XR) not my favourite pass, but very picturesque.

My mate and her bf did the Alps and B500 in a long weekend break last month also, both on Street Triple Rs. Sustenpass, Grimsel Pass x3, Furka pass, Oberalp pass, Ofenpass, Umbrail pass, Fluela pass, Abula pass, Italy - Stelvio pass x2, Foscagno pass, Germany - B500. (Taken from her fb post)

So it's certainly do-able but the motorway stretch is a killer.
