**Bioshock Technical Thread - Not Official**

I keep turning off V-Sync before I play, Accept the setting then have a game which is perfect. Quit BioShock load it up again and V-Syncs on again!?

It keeps turning it self back on. Anyone else getting this?
I get a different problem..turning V-Sync off & on in the game menu don't make any difference for me..I have to force it to on in the nvidia control panel...

Just a quick update,

If your trying to get the FOV working in Vista 64 , I had to run the exe as Administrator to get the settings to work

Anyone sorted out the horrible mouse controls? Its really not good. It feels laggy, and i think its becuase there is acceleration enabled in the game. It just feels wrong. Until this is fixed, i cant see me playing what looks like a great game.

Because the whole idea behind steam is that it contains it's own content protection methods. All games on Steam should only use the steam DRM prevention imo. Valve should stipulate that and only distribute games that abide by it. They have ****** up big time on this one imo.

Do you really think it's Valve's decision?

Does anyone know anything about how to fix the black screen at end of logo sequence? Im running the demo on steam, on windows xp, lower then min specs (yes i know, this is likely the problem, but i still want to try find a way to get around it). My nvidia drivers are all up to date (driver issues seem to be causing this problem for some other people, but they was all fixed when they got latest drivers, it didnt help me).

What graphics card do you have ?

Sounds like the same thing people with shader model 2.0 cards have been getting - can't see the options to start the demo at the end of the logo.

geforce fx 5600u

I think i may have found a way to fix it, but i wont be abel to test untill later when i can next restart my pc. Turns out that when i went through the nvidia site to get the latest drivers, by selecting graphics device, fx series, xp etc... it only comes up with the latest non-beta drivers. Turns out that the drivers that have helped a few people are the new nvidia beta drivers, hopefully ill be able to see if these work for me when i next do a restart.

I also tried what some people suggested on another forum and using -dx9 on the end of the games shortcut to force dx9 compatibility, but that didnt help.

Oh my, what settings you running :p

i cant get ingame to set any game settings :P

i did edit the config file though and set a couple things to false, like shadows and such.

the actual gfx card settings though are set to 'best performance' and all things like AA are set to 0, and render x frames ahead is also set to 0.

I think I'll stay well clear of that driver update. Wierd as I'm normally a sucker for beta testing updates released by companies :)

Waste of money. Demo worked fine but the full game wont. I enter the serial when it asks, checks the server and says its fine and i click start and nothing happens (egg timer does something for a few secs then nothing). Any ideas?
