Well my premium bonds came up reasonably well in Feb so decided to go for 5900X - now installed and just up and running after the BIOS update done a while ago. Seems OK - at least it worked first time - both the BIOS update and the CPU swap!
I expect my grandson will be hoping that I donate the 3600 to him!!!!! He will need to get hold of an AM4 motherboard - he is on AM3 at moment.
It depends what kind of features you want, but if you're happy with PCI-E 3.0 then B450 is usually decently priced and sometimes A520.
If you want a more modern board with PCI-E 4.0 and decent upgradeability (since their VRMs are usually more beefy than B450/A520), then something like the B550 Tomahawk, B550 Gaming X V2 or TUF B550-Plus Wifi, as close to £100 as possible.
I'd avoid the Prime boards due to their poor thermal performance (in HUB's testing) and I definitely wouldn't pay more than £120-£130 for any AM4 board at this point.
Back to my system - just run "CINEBENCH" - got a score of 3589 with my 3600 - now with the 5900X got a score of 7918 - about double! That looks good to me - or isn't that easy?
