[BitFenix] Support and Discussion Thread!

Good video review. Looking at the amount of space from the gpu end to the drive bays. It's a lot less than what im used to in my current case.

True, im only running two hdd's, they could go in the optical bays. The cable tidying arrangement is very impressive. Also regarding gpu cooling, i reckon that with a 120mm fan in the floor, it would help with cooling, particularly if used with a fan duct. If, (big if) lol, im not lucky enough to receive one for review, ill probably order this next week.

Yeah I'll order one eventually if I don't get one for review.

I was thinking I could mount my HDDs behind the mobo tray :) with all that room, I'm pretty sure you can basically fit it in.

kd

Yep, the amount of space is incredibly good. On my current case, you can only just get the 24 pin atx connector cable behind the mobo tray. The A70F is a beautifully crafted case, just lacking in the functionality department.

I have a lancool k62 - lian li's steel arm... And I have to agree. They're beautifully crafted. And have some great features, but have such a lack of cable management, and the bare metal -.-

I have spent the last two weeks coming up with ideas for my xl. Hence why I said I'd love a sketchup model of it. But I have some absolutely amazing ideas. :)

I changed my colour scheme based upon the mesh option colours for XL... Going to be really hard to not overdo the colour which would make it look tacky...

Just had a glance at your k62 build log kd, quite a nice little case. Very nice to see that lancool offer a black interior. Something thats rather rare in the LL range, unless you opt for the really expensive full tower x series. Got a few ideas regarding the xl myself. Use of pre braided bitfenix cables for the following.

24 pin atx
8 pin cpu
4 x 6 pin pcie

All in blue, have some of them in my eclipse 62 based rig. An excellent product. Coupled with a few black frame blue bladed alpenfohn fans i have.

Eclipse rig.

My main system.

The fans will be taken from the eclipse, one for the front of the k2, one as a rear exhaust.

Ah fair enough, nice system there. To be honest I'm only upgrading because the k62 isn't great for water.

How are the alchemy cables? I've considered some of them, but am not too sure. What is the fabric like? Is there any issue with it fraying or something?

Colour choices are still doing my head in xD

kd

The quality is outstanding. A very densely woven fabric. I cant see fraying being an issue, as its so tightly bound to the cable. Theyre also a very flexible cable, unlike other plasticky type braided extensions ive used, the alchemy cables dont spring back when bent.

Yeah. I am very tempted... Got two colour options ATM, one isn't an option with bitfenix cables, and the second colour option I'm not sure how well it would work in a large quantity of colour.

I'm planning on building a new system soon consisting of Ivy Bridge, Z77, 680 GTX etc. I love the look of the Shinobi case but was just wondering if its worth going for the normal sized case or the XL. Is there a big difference other than size?

erm there are more cable management holes, more drive bays and it is HUGE inside!

some people don't like the shinobi because of the window with the fan grill on it but i like it as it helps blow more air into the system.

the XL has a side window version as well, but no fan grill on it...

xbournex, I love my Shinobi (you can see my build log and, hopefully soon, a mod log here). As I mentioned in the last post of that thread, I'd really love you to release coloured top meshes for the Shinobi so that all the meshes match...

I'm hoping to watercool it at some point too, so that will be most of my mod log! I love the case and your gear, though, so keep up the good work!

Hmm, the bitfenix strips that you gave to Esther at ncix, the pink ones.... Are you planning on mass producing them?

kd

KD, Sorry for the late reply.
We will be soon. We have a lot of things coming up before hand.

Mr. Chinchilla, I believe you did post on our facebook as well?

Cinderz, The Shinobi XL does have a windows variant with fan grills. BFC-CLS-500-KKWA-RP is the part number.

I did indeed, but the response was illogical. You told me something like (sorry can't find the post) the choice would be overwhelming...I think you've already given people the option of choosing the mesh strips and the badge, as well as stealth drive bays and lights etc. Surely having colour top meshes is just a logical extension of this? Well worth it I'd say...I'm planning to spray paint mine myself now, but it would make much more sense if you just sold them.

The stealth drive and the badge can be interchangeable with our Shinobi XL.
Our mesh strips came along with the Shinobi, long before XL was on the road map.

At this point in time, if we have decided on making colored mesh for the top panel, that's a lot of additional SKU's if you have to ask me, making the choices, indeed, overwhelming (not only for the customer, but to suppliers, distributors, and retailers to decide what to bring in)

I have, however, suggested to combine the top mesh and the strips together. But that won't be on the road map as well, as plans for the strips have been finalized.
Our cases have only a small accent of colored paint on it, making it unique and not over done with color.

Yes, on behalf of the team, we missed a couple of points on the Shinobi. We acknowledge that. We'll re-tweak it. But going back and adding things is just the band-aid approach to doing things. Hopefully for future cases, and products, we'll fix it up. This is why feedback from the community is so crucial for us.

Well I love my Shinobi (although there are a few things I'd change on it), and I really like how responsive Bitfenix seem to be. I see what you mean with regards to the meshes and perhaps a white top mesh could be too much, but it seems to me that, given you can get the strips and the badges, the top grill is the only other really changeable thing on the outside of the case, and it would be great if you sold the top mesh. Surely, as well, the colour choices should just match the strips?

I think that it's well worth Bitfenix having the subtle accenting with the meshes, but the fact that you've produced interchangeable parts is excellent and I don't see why you shouldn't go the full way with them...apart from the SKU issue :P

As a manufacture, anything is quite "possible" (with the limitation of price). The color choices would indeed be the same - If it were to had happen.

I have only been with the company since late October of 2011. Since then, I do chime in on a lot of upcoming products, of course, with the help of the community.

Hopefully I've explained to you a little bit more in detail of why we thought it was "illogical" - not in a sense that it doesn't look good - but the band-aid approach.
