Black friday deals?

Shoot... I booked Black Friday off but will be working 'til 7 on Thursday... Going to have to try and order from my desk and hope that I'm not called into any meetings!

I know what I want, I'm more worried about the bits I need going Out of Stock than the savings haha :D

i7 is way to go nexus.. i went from a i5 2500K @ 5ghz to a i7 2600K at 4.4 and tbh the i7 feels so much faster..

All non soldered chips on mainstream now, hence the higher temperatures.

Ah I see. Will probably upgrade to a better CPU cooler at some point in the next year anyway. Currently rocking a gelid tranquillo rev. 2 + akassa apache 120mm fan with thermal grizzly paste.

Yeah definitely going with i7 :) Just need to decide which platform! :p

Having very recently switched from a 4790k at 4.7ghz to a currently at stock 5820k. For games im not seeing much difference tbh. Tested a quick oc of 4.5ghz on the 5820k, runs a lot cooler in games compared to the 4790k. 76c max on the latter as opposed to 64c max on the former.

Skylake is a generational leap over Haswell. The 6600k/6700k run cooler than Haswell did, making any comparison between the 4790k and 5820k temperature wise pointless.

Tbh Dave, the gains from skylake over haswell aren't massive. Pretty much the same as 3770k-4770k-4790k, (all of which I've owned). Kabylake will be to skylake what devils canyon was to haswell. As for the temp comparison, obviously being a soldered chip temps aren't as big an issue with the 5820k, but as its a hex core and uses more power. I'm still pleasantly surprised at how cool it runs.

I wasn't expecting to see a Samsung sub £100.00 tbh, and not that fussed on assassins creed. Currently got a 250gb ssd for a few games along with the os. Thinking of buying battlefront but as my main drive is nearly full, I'm loath to install a game id play regularly on a mechanical drive.

They were selling at £90 elsewhere recently without any need to sell part of a bundle to hit the price. Kinda eliminated the niche for e.g. the BX100 when the sammy is faster, cheaper, better warranty...

Is there a chance that any of the gaming chairs will be on sale Gibbo?

I could do with a new one... My current is a car seat bolted to an office chair base. Really comfy but now quite noisey

Yeah the Samsung 850 Evo 500GB sold out within 3 hours at that price, I managed to grab one.

That's the plan, but a few weeks a go some of the 980s were quite reasonable ish and I was close to pulling the trigger but was holding off for black Friday. Now I'm thinking even with BF I will be paying over the odds!

Even the black friday deals won't be enough to bring down the 980 price. I would just pay the extra for the Ti version instead. With pascal around the corner though I would just go for 970 then upgrade to pascal. That's what I'm doing.
