$$$$$ BLACK FRIDAY: ENGAGE! $$$$$

I had the same e-mail.

It suggests we could switch to an alternative product. Could OCUK actually offer an alternative product of the same size @ the £99 we were going to get these at? I'm guessing it would be at a large loss if they did...

After getting the "Your Order has been packed and is in the process of being shipped" e-mail on Saturday, which made me think it would be collected by DPD today and delivered tomorrow, apparently Nathan will be delivering the goodies within the next hour. :)

Update on IntelSSDGate (need a better name....)

Thank you for your recent order with Overclockers UK, your custom is appreciated.

I'm afraid that an item that you have ordered from us which we were running during the Black Friday promotion is no longer available. The item that we have listed below was online at a special price with limited stock, and further stock was expected but we have been let down by our supplier resulting in a number of pending orders which we are unable to supply. This item is listed below:

Intel 730 Series 480GB SSD 2.5" SATA 6Gbps Internal Solid State Drive (SSDSC2BP480G410)

The only options available in this instance is to amend to an alternative product of your choice or cancel this item from the order. If there is an alternative that you would like we will certainly look into offering a discount on the item, and apply free delivery on the pending order.

Please contact us as soon as possible to advise how you would like to proceed in this instance and accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience has been caused. If we don't receive a reply with-in 7 working days from the date of this email we will remove and cancel this item from the order, or cancel the order if no other items are present.

Kind Regards,

Ignore for now, myself and my SSD purchaser are begging Intel to sort some more for us. Its gone right to HQ level so will take a few days.

Worse case: Order cancelled and refund given along with some game codes.
Best case: Intel sort us out and you get the SSD.

Will take a few days as essentially were asking Intel for like £20,000........

OK I'll just wait it out and see what happen. Thanks for the update Gibbo.

So best to just hang fire for a few days then?

Gibbo just so you know this isn't the script coming via the sales team (who are hearing from the Group Manager) so massive mixed messages all around!

Going to defer to you as you tell it how it is without the corporate newspeak....

Happy to go in at a higher price if that's necessary

Sales just follow standard protocol, which is item out of stock, no orders on system as cannot get, hence the email.

In the background I am working with Intel to try and make something happen.

I don't blame OcUK for the SSD situation. These things happen, and it may be disappointing but that's life. I'd be willing to forfeit my SSD order to someone else who needs it more, I was buying as a second drive (impulse due to the price) and understand some people may have been buying as a primary as part of a new system bundle. I have not got a cancelation email so not sure if that means anything.

One thing I would comment on though generally (I have a feeling I know why OcUK do this however) is that it would be great if you guys took payment on dispatch rather than at checkout. I get that this may be problematic though if someone's payment is rejected. I have see stuff on OcUK that's pre-order for X date but not bought because I don't want to pay out the cash a month or so in advance (unless pre-orders don't work like that?).

Keep up the good work :) your efforts are appreciated Gibbo
