Blackberry 9900/9930

I'm on 353 at the moment, might give the new one a try I guess but just wondering if any of the other Orange users here have encountered this?

Another battery pull seems to have got rid of the LED but it happened yesterday too.

It happened a lot with my 9780 tbh, was annoying but after 15 mins it would go away of its own accord.

But then i used bebuzz which allows you to set the timeout and reminder alerts inc the LED flashing...not only that it gives you options to set different coloured LED alerts...one of my must have apps on the BB....not cheap, think its about £5 but i got mine many yrs ago for free as i won it through a crackberry competition and its always been updated to the latest OS's...mine started on 4.6 OS and still works on the 9900 OS.

Heres the link for the 440 leaked OS for the 9900: http://forums.crackberry.com/leaked-beta-os-f95/leaked-os-7-0-0-440-blackberry-bold-9900-a-657896/

re: the 'only receiving so much of a text' 'receiving more'. I get that sometimes on my 9900 but i just give it a few minutes and the rest comes through.

But saying that I also had it on my 8900 and sometimes I would never get the rest of the text message.

ALSO.

PODCASTS

Podcast Catalogue if I click that I get the following error : 'This application is disabled on this device by your carrier'

Now I may not want to use the podcast feature, but maybe I will. Any ideas on how I can get this working. Is it something Orange have disabled for some reason?

I can click 'add podcast channel' but I have no idea where podcasts are.

Also battery is terrible on the 9900. I have had my phone off of a overnight charge at 8am. Moderate use throughout the day. Screen at 60% and I have 35% left. Certainly no where near what my 8900 could manage x2 days moderate use.

Technology is supposed to get better. Still have 8 days left to see if I like this phone. Not 100% sure yet. Guess I got so use to the 8900 and it felt a good size. This is a lot bigger phone.

Thanks for the info js. At the start when you went to the swapables page were they all available? Mine only had mobile tv and astrology as options. I 'swapped in' the mobile tv which it accepted but then when I tried to use it it said my handset was not compatable. Like you, I really wanted the sky and deezer. I tried going to deezer but it required an automatic authentication from orange which didn't happen!

Yes, when I first went to orangeworld, in swapables I could choose deezer. You then download the app and when you goto the deezer app you can activate your orange account (it will send you a text with a code) and from there i've been downloading album after album, upto 88 now, 5gb so far.

Maybe the 9810 is not compatible yet, its not on the list http://studio.orange.co.uk/swapables/files/SwapablesPhones2.pdf

I've got the same 353 on orange and its fine for me, sorry dont have a solution though.....

Anyone else having trouble receiving entire text messages with their 9900? I keep getting [receiving text] midway through messages and the only way to get the remaining text is to do a battery pull (turning off/on doesn't help).

I've got full 3G reception and it's not even happening with particularly long messages but it's a pain in the ass.

I get this on occasion. Rarely now I'm in Bristol but it happened quite a lot in Norwich.

Sounds like a bunch of firmware things, SMS's have checksums so it's hard to mess them up so to speak. Battery on the 9900 is a day to be honest, it's got a lot more running / running a lot faster and they had to sacrifice some of the longevity in order to keep up with iOS/Android. My light worked correctly but I couldn't rule out the above being user or firmware based to be honest :/

Swapables have been a bane of my life on a personal level due to my wifes contract being completely wrong (to put it into perspective the only way I could get it fixed was because I knew more than the CSR did about them) and it's a bit of a mess. In order for swapables to work you need to be on a Contract start date >9/9/11 and be on Panther. This doesn't always happen because the stupid upgrades people were using the old plan from April meaning that tons of people thought they were getting swapables but when it came down to it - the system blocked them.

It should work on a torch (pretty sure it's BBOSv6+) but you'd need to phone up a CSR to confirm :/ AFAIK Skysports is just 3G video, nothing special and any phone since about 2004 can play that. I'm keen not to turn this thread Orange orientated because I don't want to fall foul of the rules regarding this forum but most of the time, swapables can be fixed by a CSR - they just need a bit more training sorry.

And you know why that is right??...compared to the 8900 its a much more powerful device but considering it has a 1.2ghz cpu i get excellent battery life...you may need to tweak your settings a bit to get more juice out of it or try loading a newer OS, 353 and 440 have given me more excellent battery life and i use mine pretty hard ie 3-4 hrs of calls, 100 or so emails and bbm'ing throughout the day...by the time i get home i still have about 40% battery left.

Also it could be that you may have a faulty battery, which can happen but honestly dont expect it to last days unless you hardly use it.

Have a look through this thread to get more battery saving tips : http://forums.crackberry.com/blackb...ckberry-bold-9900-battery-issues-tips-644519/

What's the deal with BB Maps then? When I open it nothing really happens, is it a bit like a sat-nav when I can finally get it working? Does it cost and arm and a leg to run?

It'd be quite handy to have something to help me navigate around places on foot, I'm not so fussed about when driving. Is BB Maps the app for the job, or is there something better?

My little Bro came to see me last weekend, he got off the train a mile from my flat and used his Nokia phone and my postcode to get right to my door, something like that would be ideal?
