Blackberry 9900/9930

Found the Google Maps app, cheers, looks pretty cool.

Spawn, you seem to know a lot about these things... If I update the firmware, will I lose all the apps that are installed, or can DTM back these up somehow? Still having problems with receiving text messages so going to upgrade to latest OS.

Yep you need to back up your 3rd party apps...its a long winded way of doing it because DTM should back them up but it doesnt.

Go here to find instructions on how to back up 3rd party apps and also how to restore...

Any Orange 9900 users worked out how to delete the Orange bookmarks from the bookmarks menu? There's a load of them in there I don't use/want but there are no options to delete them.

Is this part of the Orange firmware, meaning I'm stuck with them? I've not got around to updating the firmware yet though so I guess this will get rid of them?

Nope i think you are stuck with them even if you update your OS...they are pushed to the device from the provider.

Im with tmobile and even with my non tmobile branded 9900, i have a few tmobile bookmarks in my browser.

Joy, I guess we REALLY want you to visit those sites :( Any chance you can move them into a folder and ignore via bbkey > edit? I must be running older firmware on this as my bookmarks are standard BB ones.

They're in a list called Orange bookmarks, but they just show in the full list of bookmarks when you open the browser and you can't move them:

Any BB owners here using Whatsapp messenger? Any idea how to stop conversations appearing in your email Inbox? I've checked the settings in my Inbox and it's set to only show emails, but every conversation I have shows in there, in addition to the Whatsapp client itself.

Not the end of the world, more annoying than anything.

Yep open whatsapp...click ur bb key clivk settings then click your bb key again and click on advanced settings...once in there, where it says show chats in message folder...turn that to off...escape and save and that should stop your isssue your having.

Some big news in the blackberry world, a leaked version of the new 7.1 OS has been leaked recently. Adds wifi calling amongst other things, its not an official version so be aware that some functions may not work well.

Get it from here: http://crackberry.com/leaked-os-71074-blackberry-bold-9900-wifi-hotspot

If the download link doesnt work in the link above then have a look in the thread itself here: http://forums.crackberry.com/showthread.php?p=6879999#post6879999

I, personally havent downloaded or installed it as there are a few bugs namely no beta apps work, i have the new beta version of BBM running on my device and reading through the posts, it seems that 7.1 isnt compatible with any RIM beta apps so for that reason alone, im leaving it for the time being. Am sure the official version will be out very soon by the looks of it.

I have put the v540 firmware on my 9900 and the battery life is far far better. On T-Mobile (it's a work phone) but as they haven't released any updates I had to put on the Vodafone one, had to delete the vendor.xml file from it, but installed without a hitch :)
