Blackberry 9900/9930

The beta BBM does work with 7.1 but you currently have to download it and install it from somewhere other than the App world, theres a link on one of the Crackberry forums, many have reported it as working :)

I personally have found battery life with .540 worse than the stock .261, as have others but it seems we might be in the minority? However, .540 has been more stable and runs faster, so its a trade off, and as my schedule allows for recharging I currently favour .540 :)

Yep i realised that after making my post...i actually did install it but found it to be very sluggish and the menu had letters cut off...so i ended up going back to 540 which is the best OS for the 9900, well for me it is.

I'll just hold out for the official version of 7.1, hopefully by then the bugs will have disappeared.

on my 9900. NEXT to the notification light (red) you have the proximatary sensor. Mine if you look at it is flashing, very faintly but you can see it.

Why? what is it? why does it do it?

Its main purpose at the moment is to shut the screen off when you are on a call so you don't accidently dial stuff with your cheek, it shouldn't be flashing if you are not on a call, mine did this with the initial shipping OS but once I upgraded the OS it stopping until a call came in etc...

Is there any way I can get rid of emails from my 9900 Inbox that I've filed into subfolders in Hotmail, without deleting them?

Let's say I file an email into a subfolder in Hotmail, the email stays in my BB inbox. If I then delete it from my BB inbox, it deletes it from the Hotmail subfolder too.

I know I can change the BB Inbox settings so emails only delete on the device when deleting from the device, but I still want it to delete from my Hotmail inbox too, just not from subfolders (if any of that makes sense!)

No, if I move a message into a Hotmail subfolder, it stays in my BB Inbox. If I delete it from my BB inbox, it also deletes it from my Hotmail subfolder.

I can then go and move it back into the subfolder in Hotmail, but happen that I should forget then I've lost an email I needed to keep (but don't want cluttering up my BB inbox).

And this is even when you delete just on handheld?

As I said above, I know I can change the handheld settings so it only deletes on handheld which would solve the problem regarding subfolders, but I'd still like it to delete emails from the Hotmail inbox that I do want rid of when I delete from the handheld.

I was just wondering if there was a way to achieve both?

just got a icon thing on my BB9900 saying 'software update' if i click it it opens and has the following information on it.

current version is 7.0.0 bundle 1672

Then another icon with Version 7.0.0 bundle 2406
on it

Do I need/want to do this update?

what would it give me.

I do a back up once a month with BB Desktop manager and also have Blackberry Protect do a weekly backup.

Just wondered if I do do the update, would I loose anything? texts, emails, contacts etc etc.

Thank you.

So last week my 9900 started to develop a black flickering line on the screen. 3 days later another black line appeared. They seem to come and go and constantly flicker.

I think my only choice is to take it to Carphone Warehouse (purchased from mobiles.co.uk 3 months ago) and send it away for repair. But this way I'll be without the phone for up to 28 days :(

Is this my only option?

I imagine so :( but they might replace it for a new 9900 if your lucky.

Get it from here: http://crackberry.com/leaked-os-710190-blackberry-bold-9900

Weird, I just got this on my 9900 via an icon I've not seen before called 'Software Updates'.

It downloaded the update and said it was going to apply it and I wouldn't be able to make calls for up to 2hrs.

It didn't mention anything about needing to take a backup though... is this the same process as doing a firmware update via DTM or can I let it get on with it without taking a backup?

I let it run last night at 2am of its own accord having taken a backup and it seems to have sorted itself out entirely. The only thing I've had to do is change a few WhatsApp settings back to how I had them before.

It's not a firmware update, but a 'Software Bundle' update from Orange, so I'm now on 7.0 Bundle 2406 (v7.0.0.585, Platform 5.0.0.734) whatever all of that means.

585 is the latest official OS from what was posted on crackberry the other day...guess Orange are pushing them out to the devices OTA.

Still on 540 as i find that the best Os so far out of all the ones i have tried...i did run the latest 7.1 leak but found that the battery was terrible...getting around 5% at idle even though i let it settle for a few days. My useage was the same as before but i couldnt get through a day without having to charge it so i dumped it back for 540. Not only that the mobile hotspot doesnt seem to work although strange thing is on my iphone4 which i also have a tmobile sim...it works perfectly fine so dont think Tmobile is blocking it as far as im aware.

Will wait for the next 7.1 OS and see if that solves the battery problem. I also had an issue where my LED lights wouldnt work with BBM, using Bebuzz and it would work for everything else but not BBM.

By the way the latest version of BBM, 6.1 is now official...lets you have different coloured chat bubbles for your contacts and also allows animated icons for your profile picture. Ive been running the beta version for quite some time as im registered on the beta programme.
