I can't afford OLED. IPS here. have a VA too - yeh it's a bit smudgy. but good enough as a secondary. na i dont think va's are going to be around much if at all in the future...although they have some blacker blacks. IPS seems pretty good.

only oled is on my phone. it's very nice viewing. i can imagine oled monitors are pretty nice viewing. maybe in 5 years.
60fps vsync on baby. :D

I find it slightly amusing the things people are getting excited for in here compared to PS5 Pro owners who are about to get excited that their 700 £ console can play 4-year-old+ games at 60 FPS

tbh I think a used and sensibly priced 4090 will become the new high-end sweet spot, sure if you want the fastest it isn't going to be that but its still going to be top tier for another generation imho we've not seen anything yet that suggests otherwise.

I was thinking about going to the 5090 but I just can't really justify it and it would burn financially to spend north of 2k on a GPU... games will still look immense on the 40 series cards and even the 30 series cards for a good while yet.

This is what I'm probably going to end up with. Think the 5090 will be too much for me to justify but 4090 should keep me going until the 60 series come out after which I'll upgrade to the 5090

Hmm I’m getting convinced that the 5090 will require two 12v cables… each requiring two pcie power cables. So same 4 cables as per the original octopus adapter… just split across two inputs.

That would 100% solve all the power issues, right?

All the 3.1 PSUs having two of these adaptors, and the ultra slow rollout of putting the 3.1s to market, is the giveaway. In what other circumstance would you ever need 2 12v slots in your PSU, but only one set of MV connectors…?

Surely they be doing this to cover for any changes in the future or if someone wants to run two GPU's

Just like hardly any systems need 8 Cpu/PCIe connectors that my PSU has on it ;)

Not sure they would go with that, however maximising sales to people who buy a 5090 is maybe not something they need to worry about. Anyone doing that would probably be able/willing to also purchase any additional items (such as compatible PSU) as well, that's how I see it at least.

The PSU would need to be able to supply up to 1200watts just for them two connectors

12V-2×6 Connector Replaces the 12VHPWR connector, offering up to 600W of power for high-end GPUs and components

Maybe having multiple cables is a sensible idea due to the newer 12v connectors being problematic, spreading the load over more wires may result in less melting ? Possibly it's better to have 600w split 2x300w(1200w capacity) than 1x600w cable ?
