Blackwell gpus

No I mean if I get a 50 I'm not getting rid of the 40. Can happily stay in it's box as a backup/spare.

Or I'll give it to my 12-year-old nephew just to rustle people's Jimmy's.

I'll give you £800

A can of Coca-Cola :D
Not a multipack one, promise :p

My 8yo has already been asking when he'll be getting an upgrade from the 1080ti :D. I seriously doubt he'll be getting my 4090, to run what, Minecraft?! I could just as well sell it and buy him a grands worth of Lego instead! Nope.

I'd like a 5090 but can't decide if it's just FOMO, as strange as that may sound. Sure, it'll max games out and editing video with DaVinci Resolve will be blistering on it, but I think I need a reality cheque (not a typo :D).

Then there's the requirement for a 5090 waterblock with it's additional cost and wait for the usual suspects to release them.

My 12 year old son found that funny! TBF, he always gets my PC cast off’s, all bar the 3090FE that I sold cheaply on MM as he didn’t need/want it.

It’s nice being able to pass things on to family IMO.
This is what I usually do, but as it had been a while since my las tupgrade, I bought my step son a new box at the start of his summer hols... his is better than my current box.

Take with a pinch of salt maybe..

The salt:

I really cant wait for this. I'm getting so tempted to purchase the 4090's that pop up on the MM. I have to remain strong just a few months and then hopefully I'll get a 5080 or lower priced 4090. Just need to buy a 4060/RX 6750 to tide me over. Still on 1080p but will be getting a 4k monitor once I get a GPU that cant push 4k pixels.

I mean the audacity to use the word "Affordable"

Like others have said the most affordable ones are still in production. Unless the 4080 is under £1000 then that word is a joke .
All bar one of the in-stock 4080 supers are under £1k (and god knows what Gigabyte/Aorus were thinking with the 'SUPER EXTRME ICE'), although as @JediFragger will tell you, they're still poor value compared to the 4090 :P
