Blame it on Hiphop

You pointed at another source that I think doesn't glorify violence, how is that twisting/changing directions as I've just joined the debate?

With that image you posted I see a drug crazed nutter, hardly glorifying gun crime?

Take time to read from page one and you will see what i meant by that.

Well from reading the whole thread it seems you're just annoyed that some MP has blamed hiphop for encouraging violence/gun crime and glorifying it? A lot of people seem to agree with that MP, which has got you annoyed even more?

What is your point in posting the Scarface image then, if you're not saying it glorifies violence, like "Get Rich or Die Trying" has been accused of?

On another point, the news article is actually blaming "gangster" rap, not "hiphop" as a whole like the song you posted earlier.

He was simply showing its not just hip/hop or rap that has heavy references to guns or violence. Just to shoe it on one genre of music is a load of tosh in my oppinion.

Perhaps not, but if you can buy posters like this:

Then I would hardly say people didn't find scarface 'cool'.

I am not annoyed, it is only a forum.. :) My point all along is NOT to keep playing a blame game where hiphop is the one receiving it. The argument is flawed just like most people have pointed out.

If you blame hiphop then you can as well single out other type of media too - video game, other music genre etc. it is a clear misconception that hiphop promotes violence or glorify gun culture. People are forgetting these guys are artist and they have an artistic image to maintain.
Bruce willis acts "hard" on screen but he is a regular guy in real life i will think, and after watching his movies i dont go about thinking i am the bruce willis i see on screen.....same way hiphop.
Some argue that Kids dont know when to draw the line blah blah blah, i guess this is where other influential factors comes in e.g Good parents, social pressure etc...

I gave my reason for posting the image already.

Admit it El, you haven't slept a wink since you started this thread. 5 days of arguing must be hard work, here have a lollipop :)

I don't think HipHop as a whole promotes violence, just certain sections of it like "gangster" rap that Cameron was originally on about. On some level I think he's right that it does encourage some people to carry knives/guns, at least when I used to listen to stuff like Cypress Hill and N.W.A.

You're right though that at the end of the day it's parenting and social issues that are the main causes of violence, rather than the music itself.

When are all these hip hop 'artists' going to grow up, buy some clothes that actually fit themselves, and stop carrying lethal weapons for 'protection'?
:

When are all these punk and rock lovers gonna grow up and stop wearing Crouch-tight jeans, disfiguring their bodie via piercing and quit dying their hair pink?

See how that sounds? it is short-sighted for me to say that because, that is the fashion/culture of that kinda of music i guess. Hiphop has is own fashion too and if you aske me, i think it looks sexy and nice on whoever is wearing them.

It's hardly a fashion statement, if you all wear the same crap.

Same goes for Goths, Rockers, Skaters, Hip Hoppidy Hoppers.

You wear it to fit in with the genre, so it's anything but a "Statement". Unless you trying to tell the world you follow trends like a blind sheep.

Now pull your trousers up, you'll wear the leg ends out! :o
