That happened to me last time. To be fair it was entirely my own fault as I offered to let one of the trainees do it :p

No British blood will save me down here, If you've liked in the UK between a certian period then you cant donate

Anyone who is capable of donating blood but chooses not to should be ashamed of themselves and hope the day never comes when they or someone close to them might need a transfusion.

As for needles hurting I can't say its ever bothered me, even with the knitting needles that are used for platelet donations. I did have a spectacular bruise a few years back when the nurse pierced my vein with the needle and proceeded to go right back through the other side. the placement of the needle was adjusted to allow blood flow through the needle but blood was also flowing into the tissue.

First and only time i've gone to give blood because they where parked outside work they wouldn't allow me to have it becuase i'd not long been i'll and i was well up for actually giving blood. Plus the girl i went to get blood with wasn't allowed to have hers taken either, becuase she was too skinny or too light or something.

Just had mine done, the needle 'hurt' a little more than expected, but once it was in it was easy. Can't wait to find out my blood type and get my blood donor card! How long does that take to arrive?

I gave blood for the first time a few months ago and got a letter back saying i was only of just over a thousand people a year whos blood doesn't give results in the routine tests. It doesn't fail or pass the test, it just doesnt work. Next time I go I have to tell them so they cn run a little test beforehand (other than the ***** they already give you).

O- :D

I would happily give blood but because I like men I am not allowed.

Apparently because I am gay I am not capable of practising safe sex.

Never mind

I believe that everyone has the right to choose what to put in and take out of their own body and you have to respect that choice regardless of whatever else surrounds it.

Quite simply put, it's my body, it is mine on birth and mine on death, my soul and being is contained in it and if I say so keep your ****ing hands off, it's mine to deal with not yours.

But I'm sure if you were in an accident or stabbed you would expect the donor blood to be there ready and waiting for you.
