Don't know if it's been said before but just chatting to my BY agent and he says 25MBit this year & 100mbit next year. 1GB in testing up north :eek:
 
yep was talking to someone last nite, he said his brother work for telewest, 25mb broadband for £35 a month later on this year

i'll believe it when its out
 
Think i'll move to a chaved up area, which most cable networks seem to be in. But then again maybe not.
 
I have a BT insider whos been upgrading some exchanges in the UK North-East to LLU...

LLU = UP TO 24 MB :)

wheras you tend to suffer a bit less in terms of losses with cable :) :)


should have 100 meg cable internet available within 12 months in your face crappy bb with your old copper network :) :)

abot the up to bit, or the lower speed loss on cable ;)

DSL technology is heavily dependant on the line quality and distance from the exchange (I don't think anyone has got the near mythical 24mb yet in the U.K.) :)
 
Would be nice if they sorted their current speeds out before trying to upgrade it even further. Ah well, BY have most certainly gone rapidly down hill in my area over the past year or so.
 
That's the problem with cable. Some areas are utterly dire whereas others are excellent. Luckily in Basingstoke I near enough constantly get 1180KB/sec on my NTL connection.
 
I’m happy on my 10meg. I can virtually max it out on the news groups and has been faultless since I’ve had it. Can’t see why a residential customer would need any faster

Yeah I'm happy with my 10mbit too and I don't need any faster - 10mbit is insane enough as it is - but it'd be damn nice. Especially if it's not going to cost any extra.
 
Loving my BY 10mb too, I'm nearly always at 1000k/sec + from most servers, this area seems to be a good one :cool:

25mb is going to be awesome :eek:

Here's hoping it remains truly uncapped, unshaped and unlimited like it is at the moment.
 
Are there any plans to cable up areas that currently do not have access?
Or are all the cable Cos skint...
C&W cabled up around my area in 1993-4, then promptly decided not to use it, it's sat there rotting away ;)

We met at lan se a while back, cuople of years.

I bought bits an pieces off of you from at your parents house, near the vw garage, i lived in wycombe then,

have moved to the posh end of altwood road ;)
 
Any word on whether NTL is likely to follow suit, given the merger?

Traditionally Blueyonder has tended to offer the better cable service.
