Blueyonder/Telewest speed upgrades

*shrug* I just run 2kXP-run.cmd.

The main items of interest it lists are:

Code:
QoS max upstream bandwidth = 256000 bps
QoS max downstream bandwidth = 2148000 bps
Configuration filename = cm-2148-256
which basically shows that I'm (still) on 2mbit.

can't be right..im on 1mb and it show:

QoS max upstream bandwidth = 256000 bps
QoS min upstream bandwidth = 0 bps
QoS max downstream bandwidth = 2148000 bps

Looks like ntl have started their upgrades (or testing at least).. my mate in Belfast just send me a screencap of him pulling 1200k/s from a news server

Guess my 4MB will be uo soon :p then as thye migrate all users, 10MB :D

Well 500k/s for now isn't at all bad heheheh

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet and I really can't be bothered to trawl the whole thread.

Teleport BYs on demand TV service is being released in Sept/ Oct which seems to strangely coinside with these upgrades. Teleport is going to need extra bandwidth to operate and it maybe that the do the exchanges for the BB speed increases at the same time, it would seem reasonable.

What Teleport has got which BB hasn't is a webpage for the update schedule here http://www.telewest.co.uk/html/television/teleport/inyourarea.htm

This might be a clue as to when you will get upgraded, no proof yet but a viable theory.

Says 3/10 - 28/10 for my area which sounds about right

Get those too, not sure what they mean though.

A few points...

1. The "update failed" messages in the logs are normal. They broadcast updates for various modem models and basically those message denote an update that wasn't for your particular model.

2. The Teleport theory has been done and pretty much dismissed in the newsgroups. The TV and HSI services are completely separately managed plus many people already have Teleport but obviously not the HSI upgrades.

3. With regards to checking the logs for the modem config file details, this was disabled via an update on some or all of the Motorola units a couple of years back, so although you'll see mention of a config file update via TFTP, it won't actually show the name of the file or the speeds it gives you.

Hi vertigo... you can see the name for the upgrade file i.e. "cm-4096-384" but that only tells you the obvious; the line speed you're on now. So would it not be reasonable to expect the 10mb file to resember "cm-10240-384"?

No, you can't. On the SB4100 the name of the config file is hidden in the logs. I believe the SB5100 does show it but I'm not sure about the older SB3100.

Teleport will be available to Telewest digital TV customers at the above address between 24/10 - 25/11

For me :)

How do you go about rebooting the BY modems then?

Motorola SB5100 if that helps
