Blueyonder/Telewest speed upgrades

I WANT IT NOW!!!!!!! Goddamn it :p. Shame these are from Scotland. When ever previous updates have been carried out, we've had them fairly close to when the updates start.

This is actually a relatively sensible discussion rather the usual geek feeding frenzy these upgrades induce.
In fact it's quite the opposite.

There's no genuine information from Telewest other than what has already been posted a long time ago. Despite this we have a thread filled with discussion and postulation about joke schedules and possible links to the Teleport rollout.

I'm perfectly chilled thank-you very much, I'm just bemused by the amount of pointless speculation and how people seem so desperate for any info that they'll latch on to any potential theory. This would appear to be the very definition of a "geek feeding frenzy" as you so succinctly put it :D

Then I am quite surprised with why you are continuing to post in the thread , if you are so disaproving of therory and conjecture.

I'm getting a kinda of e-wetblanket* vibe :p

I'm an eternal optimist and live in hope that there might be some worthwhile info or meaningful discussion posted in here sometime soon :p :D

Telewest was put outside my village yonks ago before adsl the line runs outside of village but they never put it through. :( Dont see Telewest or cable upgrading places all seems to be LLU and Adsl 2. :(

Oh well can always live in hope and listen to friend bragging about their 10mb :p

hurry up maxdsl :)

Upgrades have started...woo.....NO luck here.....AND NOW I PLAY THE WAITING GAME!

Sorry. im a little tiddly and i deeply am sorry if ive offended anyone.

goodbye people! I am off to reset my modem like a fool and wait for 10mb to show me its glorious "now you can download porn in the blink of an eye" face.

Oddly, from the reports I've seen so far it would appear that the upgrades happened around 9-10am yesterday morning, rather than in the middle of the night as with previous one. Strange.

Oh haggis! Still nothing in Telford...

Vertigo, you seem technical minded. Tell us, with these extra speed increases, if TW have got their math wrong and the network starts to get saturated, as well as slowing down would their gsr's begin to crash/lock under the load or is this not a possibility?

Also - I've been getting under-par download speeds from BY's own mirrors, is this a real sign of internal network congestion??

Cheers - Dean

Hi, Question, if they did a trial and a couple of weeks ago, I was getting 4mb speeds why do we have to wait for an upgrade? and looks like bradford is gonna be ages :( look at the selfcare > maintainance section on blueyonder.co.uk

You mean the UBR?
Not likely.

I've just logged on to self care and noticed a message saying;

Good news! We've upgraded your service and as a result you no longer need to register your PC NIC Mac address. Just plug your equipment into your modem and reboot everything!

Is this anything to do with the upgrade?

Edit: Nevermind. I've just been informed that the message has been there for months.
