Blueyonder/Telewest speed upgrades

USB2 should be plenty fast enough for 10mbit? Or are the modems USB1?

USB1 is 12mbit (still fast enough for 10mbit connection) and USB2 is 480mbit.

That is peak transfer speed in 'perfect conditions', so you never get that actual speed from USB. Also there is a unnessesary CPU overhead using USB.. a £5 lan card will sort both those in one go

I upgraded to 10 MB get 1.2 MB 1200K off the blueyonder games site . Is the webstar DPX100 modem good enough for 10 MB ?....

I have a Webstar DPX100 too and for testing I can get 1200k too.

mine seems to have got a little quicker over the last couple of days since the upgrade. my downloads from the newsgroups have gone up from about 900k/sec to 1100k/sec

Is there a guide on how to download from newsgroups? I usually end up with files I cant decode, or the server doesnt have all the parts and I think P2P is so much easier...

All speed upgrades are done now but the 2Mb service went to 10, not 4.

If you were on 512k to start with you'd now be on 2. If you were on 1 you'd now be on 4.

anyone in L22 or around that area in liverpool and get absolutely dire speeds on 10mb ?
changed over few months ago just for 1 month while i was back from uni, didnt seem the mutts nuts but wasnt too shabby.
went back last month, upgraded, after a lot of hassle over the phone, i managed to get 800kb/sec for a few hours and then it went back to around 300kb/sec to as low was 150kb/sec and doesnt want to seem to go higher. and those speeds are coming from the blueyonder gamefiles site :*(

just my connection or anyone else experiencing problems ?

I think it's problems in the North West as a whole mate. Too many people being chucked onto already overloaded pipes. According to them (after ringing 5 times and having them fob me off saying I have spyware) it's being worked on at the moment, but I think it's BS. Everyone from the North West needs to ring and complain to get some kind of completion date from them or we're going to get nowhere.
