BMW and M Power Owners

i got the standard sta nav in my 320d auto. it take me to places without any problem.

i dont see the need for pro sat nav. sure i had a play with the pro sat nav in bmw garage. didnt wow me at all. a simple sat nav is all i needed

I've had a play with both systems for a while, and I'm really not bothered about the pro nav. I get the logic of adding it to improve residuals but I'm not sure it would have a massive impact from what I've seen.

It's much better with a proper screen instead of the stupid small one.

define a proper screen?

ive been driving for 20 years, owned 9 cars. and the bmw 320d i got now is the first car with a 'proper' sat nav. In the past i used sat nav app on my phone. So having a proper sat nav in the car is big jump from phone.

will pro sat nav get me to places quicker than standard sat nav?

in fact, often i turn the screen off because i keep looking at the screen unnecessarily.

I had a F10 525D last night, pretty compelling addition to the cabin is the pro-Nav in my view. Really got on with iDrive aswell and indeed the car. Very impressive bit of kit.
LED lights very good although High beam assist could be faster to respond.
I like HUD but dont think I'd ever pay for it, nice that it shows the throttle lift icon in ECO PRO to initiate coasting/sailing amongst the usual stuff.

Silly spec though, bet you love that Fox! In reality that would be a 6 cylinder customer car.

The X5 I drove on Tuesday was a 25Xdrive yet £28k of options!

The Pro Nav is better, objectively and subjectively.

It's only the cost that's a factor.

Besides, it's how you get there, not how quickly you get there... :)

Completely agree, I may well decide down the line I want it - but it's always something to add on the wishlist for the next car ;)

Just chatted with BMW online, scheduled for delivery 2nd April :)

Indeed!

What colour did you go for?

Supposing the rrp doesn't go over £40k (which I'm guessing it didn't), yours will fall into the new tax bracket scheme too.

Yes it is, but not better enough that I was bothered to add it.

This was my thought when the otherwise perfect 3 month old F31 appeared at a price I couldn't ignore. The car has everything I wanted except pro-nav so I went for it and don't regret it.

I've subscribed to Real Time Traffic which was something I specifically wanted.

The bigger screen and extra functionality is nice but I don't think I could bring myself to pay nearly a grand or more for it. When you think what kind of laptop £1k would buy it puts it in context from a technology perspective!

I do think on the F10 the small screen looks terrible though, like they've purposely made it look as bad as possible. On the cars with "stuck on" screens I don't think it's as much of an issue.

Had my F11 Touring brakes done this week and BMW have reported that the air suspension has a tear on one side. It is under warranty (with excess) so I will get it done but have two reservations:

1. What if I fork out and excess and the other side goes in 4/5 months? It seems odd that only once side would be worn. There was a recall in the US so this does seem to be a quality control issue.

2. Given the low quality OEM part , the third party equivalent seem much better. Should I take the £250 excess, pay £300 for better parts and £100 to my independent to fit? BMW are quoting £490 for one side which seems insane for the little work involved. Would having this done outside of BMW affect the warranty on any other rear suspension components?

All of that spec and no 19" wheels! I have the 18's on mine and they are much better than the old ones but you'd think a car of that spec would have the upgrade. The F10 is one of the very best cars around IMO, and with options it just gets better and better.

It'll be interesting to see the G30, I like certain aspects of the new interior but the screen design/placement looks a little awkward. I'm sure it'll be excellent though.
