BMW and M Power Owners

It's the 2.0i sorry forgot to say! :)

similar running costs to 2.5/3.0's yet no poke! in my opinion the worst engine to go into a z4, from z4 forums it also is one of the least reliable engines BMW made with common warning lights and other problems.

car looks nice condition but engine in my opinion is terrible for a z4. - no offence of course, enjoy and hopefully it does treat you well.

Oh that doesn't sound good :( I've only been driving 11 months so I went for the smaller engine plus the cheaper tax and slightly better mpg, plus it's feels a lot faster than my 1.4 polo :D

There's no increased performance in sport mode vs comfort mode, but the throttle pedal position mapping is totally changed which can make it feel much faster. In reality the throttle pedal is just "longer" in confort mode, which can actually make it much easier to control throttle input because in sport mode a small input has a big effect.

Is this truly the only difference? From my experience it also holds the car at higher revs (generally leading to a lower gear selection than comfort) so the throttle response feels a lot more immediate.

It also changes the weight of the steering and stiffens the suspension making it feel 'sportier'.

No, it's not the only difference, but it's the main change that makes it feel like you have higher performance (when you don't).

In Sport and Sport+ modes the car will hold a lower gear, and if you flip the selector over to M/S this will also hold a gear lower as well. It also makes the steering heavier, and if you have adaptive dampers it will also stiffen them up (but do nothing to the suspension if you don't have them), but above all it's the change to the throttle pedal position mapping that makes the big difference to how the car's performance "feels".

Guess it depends what gearbox you have, but with the DCT Sport and Sport+ makes the gear shifts faster, and Sport+ also reduces how much the traction control kicks in as well.

As you say though you don't get any more power, but you could argue the more aggressive gearbox settings means you'll accelerate slightly quicker.
