The stock sound of the V10 was absolutely perfect on the LCI model. Lovely and calm and discrete when pootling around but the rough growl all the way through to 8.5k was addictively exhilarating. But each to their own, a couple of my mates upgraded theirs for that extra bit of show off, I was happy with stock.
What makes you say that?
But according to its history it has not, if your talking about the creaking in the rear, there is a dry balljoint/bush which shall be replaced once I track it down. I know three of previous owners, also no history of a crash and upon inspecting it mysellf underneath everything is original, suspension, springs etc. All that a previous owner did do is spray the boot because of an accident with someone putting something on the boot and needless to say it was a poor job, but no signs of any crash damage I can find, everything is original hence why the suspension is pretty worn and I am changing out a lot of arms and bushes to refresh it.
I actually prefer the stock sound over that exhaust. Sounds wrong for the car
Well the stock exhaust really has no sound and I absolutely love how it sounds now, the other option was an Eisenmann race or modding the exhaust, the Eisenmann is extremely loud, basically louder than 4 pipe mod according to owners but again very toneful, the pipe mod the feedback was so mixed half saying its awesome, many saying it droned terrible and some saying it sounded awesone, the other option that many like is literally muffler delete, just straight pipes which for whatever reason over the 2/4 pipe mod seems less likely to drone and sounds very nice, but again insanely loud.
Has no sound? Don’t get that comment @Gibbo. As NVP said, stock sounds lovely. Even went back and watched some YouTube videos of a stock exhaust and it’s beautiful when giving it the beans.

I like exhaust to be vocal, stock for me was simply not loud enough and to be honest this exhaust has amplified the stock tone to my ears, not changed it, just turned up the volume of the stock exhaust from about 3 to around 7, which is nice but maybe I was hoping for more around an 8.5 lol.
Eisenmann and 4 pipe are definitely a 10+ on volume scales.Not an issue either way as the owner sold me this exhaust complete, so my original has come off as one piece and is totally intact which is handy should I ever wish to revert or sell on etc.
Guys, remember my broken springs and rear suspension repair on my F11 costing about 4.5k? My friend at Which? is saying they are talking with BMW about issuing a recall as apparently 26% of F11 owners they contacted had broken rear springs in the previous year!
Because I got mine repaired by an independent do you think there'll be any remuneration I could seek?

I'm pretty sure I recognise the car from way back in my west midlands/shropshire days - however my memory has been smoked to death so completely unreliable.
Now I get why you got a pre-lci rather than an lci, as you are confident of its history and ownership.
Any yellow cogs in the past that were repaired?
I got this just because it was an honest car in good mechanical order and it was a damn site better condition than others I looked at that were also priced as much as 3-4k more than this, I did see a stunning silver blue one, but I just don't like that colour or otherwise I would have got that as it was 60k miles and everything had been done on it.
In fairness this car has had rod bearings, vanos, fuel pumps and actuators. The only thing this car has never had remarkably is a clutch which for a car with 85k miles is somekind of miracle but some owners get 20k and most around 50k, anything higher is pretty rare as these are known for eating clutches, but its a £1500 job at a specialist so not end of world.
Problems this car has is a slight rear diff leak, which I plan on fixing because I have a nice driveway and this car leaving its mark is somewhat annoying and the suspension is certainly showing its age, feels lose in front due to worn bushes but I have all new Lemforder front arms, already changed all drop links all round and the rear end creaking is very annoying and to be further inspected, most like a dry balljoint but could be a cracked spring as BMW's are know for that. It is a 2 tonne car with 85k miles so I went in eyes open knowing the car will need a few grand in suspension work to get it back to my standards and I am aware they can throw big bills.
In regards to issues I believe its been a pretty solid car its life, no yellow cogs, just some INPA errors from random sensors failing over time etc. and one of the adaptive headlights failed last year which the owner who I got it from purchased a new unit from BMW at £995 which I would have personally probably sourced one from a breakers yard instead of forking out a grand for a headlight but its at same time its a good sign that previous owners have not really coughed at spending, I have a folder with around £15,000 plus worth of repairs and services.
Are you specifically looking at saloons? I'd only consider a touring and I have seen several high spec ones for sale.
That honestly scares the crap out of me. How people drive like that on the road is beyond me.

When i swap cars the single biggest thing i will miss on my Evoque is the Matrix LEDs. They are awesome.
Laser lights are quite different, long range beam in addition to matrix. They come on only over 50mph, no street lights, no cars around before they fire up. That was the criteria in the Velar I drove anyway, just puts a portable sun on the front of the car, incredible on country dual carriageways- but reality where i live very few times they would turn on.
@Gibbo Ah yes, I forget it's an older car now and much cheaper to repair the main concerns. Sounds like it's going to be a nice little beast, going to remap to 207mph?
I aim to pick up an E61 M5 at some point in my life as I wish I got the touring instead of the saloon back in the day and really miss the top end of that beautiful V10.

Yes, specifically a saloon. I bet they are not as high spec as you think they are - the standard spec is fairly generous. Do they have Parking Assistant Plus, Driver Assistant Professional and ICON LED headlights? I suspect not.
Generally speaking most have M Sport Plus and a few have the Tech Pack adding the HK Sound and a HUD. This does not a high specification G30 make
Unfortunately i've been spoiled by exceptionally high spec hire cars in Germany - last year I had an absolutely loaded 540i. It was glorious.
The one thing I don't like about my F10 is the pathetic halogen indicator bulbs on the non LED headlights. These should be consigned to the rubbish bin of history, it was ridiculous enough BMW persisted with them on the F10 LCI but bizarre they're still there on the G30. They make the front look nothing like as nice as the proper Icon LED.

Highlights my point - all that and it STILL hasnt got a head up display or Driver Assistant Professional, so it lacks adaptive cruise - a feature that has been STANDARD FIT on VW Golfs for about 7 years.

It's almost as bad as me thinking a 3 year old A4 Avant is worth about £25k
