BMW and M Power Owners

Hadn't considered it before, but does active cruise genuinely help alert for near passes on cyclists - if cars are using radar & cameras, should I wear a tinfoil hat.
I haven't been driving much recently but remember the active cruise on my 2019 G30 detecting a cyclist infront of me, wasn't a common occurance so haven't "tested" it in many difference scenarios. The blind spot detection picks them up consistently too (not just on my car, fequently see it triggered on cars when I'm cycling these days).

I can't stop watching reviews of the M340i. It just seems like the perfect all-rounder. It's even the size of an E39...
Same, I need to keep the M140i for another 18 months ish and then it'll be 3 years old and I'll hopefully get a nearly new M340i. The only thing is, would it be able to tow my Civic? Or would that size of car need something more like an X5 to tow it?

Trying to find a good petrol G30 Under 25k is almost impossible. Lots of cars around, all have no spec except big wheels.

I have missed out on 3 cars as anyone a good one come up it sells very fast.

Because you're looking at the bottom end of the market. Sub 25k is cheap for a G30, any that pop up will be crap or snapped up fast if they are not.

This sounds like the F10 all over again. Buy a random spec cheapo one then wonder why you can't sell it easily 39 seconds later, didn't you learn anything from that situation :p

Lol maybe. I had seen lots of base spec 2019 520i M sports with low miles for £21 to £22k.

so I thought 25k would get me one with a few options

For a guy that seems to fire cash out of his wazoo he seems to do that a lot!

Haha looking forward to picking it up today with the exhaust on. :)

Apologies if I've missed the relevant update, but do replace all the power steering hoses if you can (or at least get them comprehensively checked, but I'd err on the side of caution and change them anyway). An M5 belonging to an associate of mine burned itself to the ground recently after the PAS line that runs near the manifold on one side let go. Assistance went and then moments later the whole thing was aflame.

Thanks and that is pretty scary, shall get it checked and if that’s common then BMW should really be issuing a recall.

I'm not sure if it's common but I suspect you might turn up some others that have had PAS failure but dodged the fire. Just getting to that age where such issues might develop, unfortunately. Pretty packed and hot in that bay. There may have been some external factor but I'd still give 'em a good going over. Cheap insurance, if anything. :)

If you really want to spend 45k just order a new one. There is up to 15% off list and you can avoid those awful wheels, too.

I had a quote through Carwow for £45200 - that was with Driver Assistance Pro, Visibility Package and Tech Package as well.

I'm going to wait until next year when hopefully a year old one will be 30-35k or so. At the current prices it makes more sense to order new I think.

I completely disagree. A BMW should have an 8, 10 or 12 cylinder engine.

I can guarantee you would not enjoy filling up the 10 and would probably find the SMG annoying, it is very much a marmite car, but I am glad its a box I have ticked, the noise and the way the engine pulls at the top end is incredible. :)
