BMW and M Power Owners

So after being quoted £256 Inc vat on the phone from BMW for oil / oil filter and air filter. Ita apparently £350 . What is an environmental charge ???

They can't just quote one price on the phone then increase it when you here

Two sytner BMW dealerships I phoned and they both quoted £256 Inc vat

They have gone to apparently listen to the call

Edit: mistake on their part :D. I also love how they said there is no oil change scheduled on my car for another 15k miles..

Sytner do this to me so often, even back with my M3. I used to just screenshot the quote, and show them at pay time. They'd just shrug and charge me the original price.

Why?

Glad you got it sorted.

Because they go by what's on the dash..IE oil service every 20k. And i don't leave it this long. I will probably leave it 7-8k miles before I get the oil done again after this one

Edit.. I feel like I'm being treated well. Free coffee and a guy that straps a big strap on body tray to himself and goes to waiting customers dishing out free chocolate

That's your decision, but there's nothing wrong with them following the schedule.

I only do maybe 4-5k a year, bugs me having to get the service done for effectively what feels like early Not that much, to be fair. The car always feels a lot better afterward, right?

Let them clean it last time - that was a mistake, they did an awful job. Irritated me so much I got it fully valeted afterward.

They ignored my request to not clean it . They done it anyway. Ah well.. the wax is still good on it though .I just tipped some water on it and it still beads really good..no idea what they used to wash it with and how they done it. Hopefully a jet wash and not scrubbing it with a sponge

Not going to ask

Oil filter oil and air filter change came to £241 which included vat

Sounds par for the course. The body shop put my car through a regular car wash after having fresh paint on the rear panel. Boggles the mind really

Seems to happen a lot. I’ve watched the car cleaning ‘team’ at most main dealers and they aren’t usually much better than the generic hand car wash places. :(

Depending on how annoyed you are, you could request they pay for a detailer to polish the car to remove any of the inflicted swirls. I’d probably do this if I’d just spent time correcting the paint and then they washed it when I asked them not to…

The trouble with getting them to do it as cheap as possible means they will probably do the least they can get away with. An A service at my independent includes various checks including taking all the wheels off, checking the brakes etc not just an oil and oil filter change.

I don't really notice any swirls in the paint work as such. Although when I bought the car there was a couple of light scratch marks on the front right wing . These seem.abit more noticeable again. Although I don't think I polished it enough to get rid of them anyway last time. I used a polish pad and utlimate compound and done it by hand not via a machine ...

Healthcheck wise the only thing that came up was rear pads 4.5mm advisory and a reccomended air-conditioning regas service which I found odd as I dont use the Aircon and I bought it in Feb /march this year from used approved.. why would this need doing so soon when I have not used it ? Worth asking the place I got it from to see if they can look at it here if they missed this ?.

They also noticed a clip missing on one of the undertrays but it is not a hazard and is secure. This is shown in the video

If you don't use the air-conditioning this can mean it will fail sooner rather than later but I'd expect it to last longer than 6 months without use. I've had my car from new for over 6 years and I always leave the air con on, usually to heat the car rather than cool it.

It was checked at my A service this week and is still fine after all these years. I know they checked it because it was set to maximum cool air when I usually have it set to heat.

Why don't you use it? It's better to leave it running and let the climate control system sort everything.

Did they actually recommend a regas or was it their air con cleaning thing? Most dealers are trying to push this as part of a service nowadays...

She said something about checking piped and regassing. I only generally use it when the weathers hotter

Speak to them, see what they say. Explain you’re particular about your car and that you’re not happy they ignored your request which will be reflected in your survey response and public reviews.
