BMW and M Power Owners

A few sections on US sites but they're very tumbleweed - Cutters is our place for UK stuff.

Z4 options - see this PDF for the names and setups, it's base > Hi-Fi > Hi-Fi Professional in worst to best. The radio has 2 versions, business CD and professional. I don't know if that's a direct reference to idrive but it's down as "609 NAVIGATION SYSTEM PROFESSIONAL" on my sheet at a best guess, not like it's hard to see anyway because you can see the controller in every dash picture :) It's a US edition spec sheet but seems to line up http://www.bimmerpost.com/goodiesforyou/z4catalog.pdf . I run comp/£100 excess as Fox suggests, it unfortunately didn't help too much with my latest problem (water in battery compartment due to rear air vent -a 2011 recall & rear boot seal failure) but BMW paid out £300 of the £500 cost so eh, could be worst. The rear boot seal is a 2 metre piece of rubber costing near £200 retail. I appreciate the rarity of the part but... damn.

Finally got around to taking the M135 out for a test drive. I was really quite impressed, has some impressive poke as well as being able to casually just cruise along

The auto box is excellent as well, I would say just as good as any DSG box I've experienced

Spent the whole weekend looking at reviews etc on youtube and they all sing its praises

I think I've convinced myself I want it now, just have to see if the finances can stack up

I tried typing the reg into the BMW Warranty site, it says it already has a warranty but doesn't tell what it has. Is there any way to find out? It also appears to have a 5 year servicing and MOT pack with it

It tops it up if required.

My 335i had 4 months new car warranty and the remaining 20 months approved used to bring it to 2 years.

I think there are some older M135i and some people have had warranty renewal quotes and it seems bmw don't price them like regular 1 Series :(

Is that to say the warranty is a lot more expensive on the 135? Any idea of what others have paid?

I think it's warranted like an M car rather than a usual car. Usually all models in the range except M Series are the same price, for example a 550i warranty is the same price as a 520d and a 335i warranty is the same price as a 316d.

Wow that thread, I had seen other earlier threads about it but not that one, thank you. Looks like i made out like a bandit paying £200 considering the other guy there got quoted £400 just to take it apart and I got a rear seal + 2 vents + fitting done in that. I knew my recall had been done because I had the green trim marker but I couldn't prove (as I didn't take it all apart) that it was their fault, I just had the service record that the garage did it.

I'll update the forum to know how my experience worked out, I'm not overly happy the rear vent went but my seal was pinched and I figured that was fair game to be be repaired, just didn't expect BMW to contribute to that at all tbh and they took a set amount off everything "considering the history and my warranty" etc...

Onto something completely different - what's that website that compares pricing for different service items? Need some new rear pads and I need BMW to do it due to the locking handbrake system but don't want to get robbed :(

Turbo edit: Just renewed on a 35i for £392 / £100 excess / comp, aww yeah.

Strange thing about that thread is the guy who had BMW tell him "to do one" said his car is over 5 years old, the post was back in 2012, and the E89 with the hard top convertible didn't come out until 2009.

So I don't think he is talking about the same car?

There aren't any older ones, but you're recalling the information that I provided before buying mine. I called BMW Warranty and was quoted something around £2.5k annually for comp/£100 for >60k miles, and about half that for <60k miles. Those aren't exact figures, just my recollection.

The post where BMW told him to "do one" was posted on Fri, the thread was only created in May....
