BMW and M Power Owners

Crap plastic interior with suspect asymmetrical styling, stunning gearbox, great infotainment. Deliberately cheapened in order to give them something to do at the facelift with early 90's features like old-style halogen bulbs for indicators etc.
Halogen indicators?
Count me out! ;)

I was referring to the engine specifically. I can live with the F30 interior, although luggage capacity isn't fantastic.
I'd look at F10s only but on-street parking and more importantly buying higher mileage ones out of warranty concerns me.

Engine is great fun!

Find one with the upgraded interior and it's a much nicer place to be.

Have put 45k on my 62 plate 328i. Very good engine. Have average 38mpg in mixed driving, pulls very well from low revs and pulls hard through 6000 or so.

No idea on reliability but mine hasn't missed a beat

What upgraded interior? There is no upgrade beyond the usual leather etc.

The fact that in mine all the crappy silver plastic that comes as standard has been replaced with brushed aluminium. Oh and all the plastic joints have been felt lined by BMW.

There's also the leather dash option.

Bit dark for me to take them atm. The aluminium is a £280 option or something like that - cheaper than the wood grains (I love the dark ash one) which replaces the awful awful silver plastic.

The leather dash option is about £900 and replaces the glovebox and surround as well as the dash top with leather. Not as nice or high quality as the stuff in the 5 series but a lot nicer than normal. I don't have this option in mine sadly :(

Right, just nipped out to take some. Quality is naff because it's with the phone and it's dark

The plastic I refer to is still there in your pics, its the black stuff around the gear surround, etc. I really don't understand why BMW did this - in other models (ie 5 Series, heck even the E90) the entire console was generally either leather and/or the metal/wood trim, but not so the F30.

There is no 'upgraded interior' and there are probably more unicorns than F30's with the extended leather dash.

So as those of you who came to the southern meet know I sold my M3 on the same day in anticipation of putting money down on some new gen metal :)

Well I placed my deposit today and everything is finalised, BMW M4 factory order incoming, provisional late september delivery date.

Excited...:D

I am envious :p look forward to seeing it at the next meet!

I was being serious. These are old cars now and a lot of them have been through the mill so find a nice standard car that's got a full and comprehensive service history and you'll be fine. They are pretty robust really. If you get a 2004 car it'll have the 14 year paint/corrosion warranty which will cover the arches should they rust (providing it's never had a shunt or any new paint). Late 2005/2006 cars will still be covered by BMW goodwill repair if the subframe is cracked.

It's 12 years, not 14 years.

I like that leather dash option, is fitting. But it's annoying that BMW still use the standard plastic buttons and trim surrounds which look tacky over time, especially the buttons with finger grease and going shiny on heavy traffic areas of them. This hasn't changed much since the early E90 days though iirc.

Hmm, none of my buttons have done that. Though it may just be down to me not having greasy fingers or something!
As I said though getting rid of the standard silver plastic and the leather dash makes it a much nicer place to be.
There are still some crappy areas (like around the gear stick as fox pointed out) and some bits of the central tunnel are a bit meh.

I just wish the F30 had a mini F10 interior (Like the E46 had a smaller E39 style interior for example) not a big F20 interior. I'd probably buy one if it did.

Agree. The f10 is a much nicer place to be. However I found that the f30 was more fun to drive and...managed to find a petrol one!
Spent so long looking for the 530i or 'unicorn edition' as it's known and there was just nothing out there

Don't know I know that :(

There is, however, for some strange reason approximately a billion zero mileage 64 plate 520i M Sport's on the AUC site at the moment

Yeah, I don't get it either. My office is very close to one of the biggest dealerships in the north and some of the combos I see going in and out just confound me.
A hell of a lot of 116i and 118i msports. 420d msports with model designation removed too.

All show and no go seems to be the order of the day.

Don't see half as many 6 series as I'd like though :-(
