BMW and M Power Owners

I had the same, both rear tyres down the cords on the back inside edge where you cant see very well, rest of the tyre on about 4-5mm tread

Very frustrating and expensive :(

Whats worse with mine is that i had to replace 2*4-5mm tyres, and then only 2 weeks later i have a massive screw right in the shoulder of one of the replacements.

I didnt know whether to laugh or cry when i spotted the screw!

Cry manically while laughing handing over your keys to the garage clerk? :D

This happened to me on the S6 too - 1mm wide strip on the very innermost edge was worn through, rest of the tyre was absolutely fine :(

Same on my dad's 5 GT.

Tyres looked fine from the outside, but the inner edge on one of them had worn down almost to the canvas - the dealer spotted it during a service.

Yep, exactly.

Absolutely that was my lax attitude. I do regularly look at / check my treads. But I did manage to miss the extreme wear on the inside at the rear of the car. I'm going to blame the "even" 5mm across the rest of the tyres, but obviously know it is still absolutely my fault for not being thorough enough.

My point was more about how they performed in this situation though.

Were they Potenza RE050A's by any chance?

Any suggestions for checking the inner tyre wear short of getting it up on a service ramp? I don't fancy sticking my head under the car whilst it's on a standard jack nor can I be bothered to remove the wheel... It's too low to get my head under on the flat.

You can feel it with your hand by reaching into the rear wheel arch.

For the front just park the car on full lock occasionally and you can visually inspect it.

I bought myself a M135i, having binned the RS3.

Like night and day, the Audi was dynamicaly utterly pathetic. Never again.

A new M3 is on the agenda next year, this was a stop gap, but its a very impressive one. So impressive, at the moment, I dont think I could justifiy another £20k for a LSD, DCT and 100bhp.

Hmm.. My engine light came on today (well the one the manual describes as an emissions light). It also started misfiring very badly, to the extent that I was wondering if it is running on 5 cylinders. This happened after about 2 minutes of driving on our little residential street, with no problems (but with the light on). I crawled home, turned it off and turned it on and noise and feel wise it is fine, engine light still on though.

Its due its service 2 so I was going to get that done on Monday. I'm wondering if anyone has any idea.

Don't need to spend that much more...M2 comes out next year!

What car is it?

Unfortunately, approximately 23515153 different sensors or parts can cause that light to come on, so it's best to have the fault codes read. The problem may disappear on it's own if you keep driving/restarting the engine etc.

It's a 2003 330ci manual. I'll be taking it in for the inspection soon so will see what it says. I don't need to drive anywhere this weekend.

On a side note, quote for inspection 2 with OEM parts (apparently just a different box?) Is 315 all in. I'd also be looking to get the oil sensor replaced too, 130 parts and labour. Finally, it is burning oil which is apparently CCV (or the piston rings but let's not go there)

Do those quotes look reasonable?
